Job Overview
The Direct Support Professional (DSP) plays a crucial role in providing compassionate care and support to individuals with disabilities or special needs. Responsibilities

• Administer medications as prescribed and ensure proper documentation of medication administration.
• Support clients with meal preparation, ensuring nutritional needs are met while considering dietary restrictions.
• Engage clients in meaningful activities that promote social interaction and cognitive engagement.
• Observe and report any changes in clients' physical or emotional condition to the appropriate healthcare professionals.
• Maintain a clean and safe living environment for residents, adhering to health and safety regulations.
• Uphold resident rights by promoting dignity, respect, and privacy at all times.
• Assist with memory care strategies for clients experiencing cognitive challenges.
• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to develop and implement individualized care plans.
• Provide CPR and first aid as necessary in emergency situations.

Skills

• Strong understanding of patient care principles and practices in assisted living or long-term care settings.
• Proficient in medication administration protocols and patient observation techniques.
• Excellent communication skills to effectively interact with clients, families, and healthcare team members.
• Ability to maintain a clean environment while following infection control guidelines.
• Compassionate approach towards individuals with disabilities or special needs, demonstrating patience and empathy.
• Knowledge of resident rights and advocacy practices within the healthcare system.
• Experience in meal preparation that accommodates individual dietary needs is preferred.
• Certification in CPR is highly desirable for ensuring client safety during emergencies.
