What are the responsibilities and job description for the Mortgage Compliance Analyst position at 1ST SUMMIT BANK?
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
COMPLIANCE
- Continually monitors the regulatory environment for consumer and governmental legislation that is being considered or enacted to ensure the bank implements all requirements;
- Carries out the necessary consumer complaint procedures within the Compliance Management Software System, as per the Banks Consumer Complaint Policy.
- Performs Compliance Reviews based on regulatory hot topics to ensure Bank-wide compliance.
- Assists in preparing materials and organizing regulatory exams/audits/inquiries.
- Fair Lending - Perform reviews utilizing the Bank’s Fair Lending Software System including, but not limited to:
- Origination and Pricing Disparities for multiple business lines with different guidelines
- Processing Times Disparities
- Redlining Analysis
- Loan Servicing and Loss Mitigation Practices
- Non-HMDA Data Integrity for data sets affecting Fair Lending Analysis
- Small Business/Commercial Lending
- Fair Lending Outreach
- Perform semi-annual underwriting and pricing exception analysis reviews of the Bank’s various loan portfolios;
- Create, and foster, a collaborative relationship with business partners throughout the Bank by being responsive, efficient, and effective while conducting monitoring reviews;
- Identify root cause of errors of disparities, and ensure the corrective actions stated by the business unit(s), are effective in mitigating fair lending risk;
- Other Fair Lending job duties:
- Assist on projects and initiatives that affect the Fair Lending Program;
- Maintain procedures related to monitoring performed by the Compliance Dept.;
- Assist with the data collection for fair lending utilizing HMDA, CRA and other loan types requested.
- Assist in the completion of the periodic Fair Lending Risk Assessment.
HMDA
- Conduct periodic compliance monitoring for HMDA quality control. Partner with other business areas to address root cause of issues found and correct systems of record based on reviews performed.
- Responsible for the creation, preparation, and submission of the Bank’s HMDA LAR;
- Regularly review HMDA procedures from all participating areas and make changes as necessary;
- Renew the Bank’s LEI Number yearly;
- Collect, validate, and analyze loan data to ensure compliance with HMDA reporting requirements;
- Review data entry of fellow team members to ensure accuracy through second review process;
- Perform targeted reviews of specific HMDA data points;
- Collaborate on, and work to improve the current HMDA process through automation;
- Follow-up with all parties involved with the HMDA process on any changes or current audit findings that will need changed or corrected;
- Monitor and review changes in laws and regulations regarding HMDA;
- Assist in writing policies and procedures for departmental use, and responsible for updating and maintaining HMDA procedures and documentation.
- Attracts, advises, and serves existing or prospective customers through the Bank’s customer centered marketing plan:
- Inform customers of available Bank services.
- Direct and immediate response to customer requests or needs.
- Provides customers and Branch professionals with timely information.
- Participates in meeting the Information Systems Group’s short- and long-term goals;
- Attends annual meeting to develop departmental goals;
- Attends monthly meeting to discuss and evaluate “progress” on meeting goals;
- Attends monthly Employee Relations Meeting;
- May attend the Risk Review and Mitigation team, CRA committee, Technology Committee, Investment/Risk Management meetings.
- Member of the various task forces regarding special projects throughout the Bank.
- Performs other duties as assigned or directed.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBLITY:
- This position does not supervise employees.
EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor’s degree required. In lieu of a bachelor’s degree 3-5 years of experience.
- Specific Industry certifications, accreditations, and ongoing education in the areas of Risk Management and Compliance preferred.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Ability to concentrate and perform responsibilities by maintaining a constant state of focus and mental alertness.
- Ability to lift up to 25 pounds.
- Ability to communicate in person, through email or via telephone with customers and staff members.
- Ability to sit or stand for an extended period.
