This position will be responsible for growing existing accounts and securing new accounts for the weekly publication (3,885 circulation) and Harrison Shopper while building long-term businesses relationships within the Cynthiana, Georgetown, Frankfort and Lexington, Ky. business communities. Qualifications:
- Proven track record in sales preferred
- Degree in marketing or advertising a plus, but not a requirement
- Must be computer proficient
- Be knowledgeable about advertising and marketing as it relates to the newspaper business
- Proven organizational and interpersonal skills
- Demonstration of high energy level and self-motivation
- Demonstration of team-oriented behavior
- Desire to advance and willingness to accept expanding, sometimes changing, responsibilities, duties and accountability
- Above average skills in language, math, reasoning ability and customer service
- Ability to understand and live with deadline driven business
- Must have reliable transportation , automobile insurance and cell phone
Experience and Skills:
Essential Functions:
- Travel throughout assigned territory to service existing account list and develop new customers
- Develop sales ideas to help create new sources of revenue
- Meet or exceed monthly, quarterly and annual sales goals
- Listen to customers’ needs and advise them in effective use of advertising
- Maintain knowledge of advertising rates, current circulation and competing media
- Assist in collections
- Provide proofs to clients as requested
- Perform all other duties as specified by the Advertising Manager
- Make cold-calls and prepare sales presentations in an ongoing effort to develop new business
- Report daily sales activity on call sheets to advertising manager
