Our client is a privately held, regional retail and commercial bank in central Florida, with 20 branches as well as a full suite of online banking services, including day to day checking and savings accounts, personal and commercial loans, mortgages, debit and credit cards, treasury management and investments. The firm also offers trust and wealth management services.
Position
The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) directs and oversees the financial activities of the organization, the financial reports and summaries, and creates forecasts predicting future growth and economic impacts to the company. The CFO manages a team of 10-15 accounting and finance staff.
Responsibilities
Financial Strategy and Planning:
· Oversee, implement and develop the firm’s financial planning and fiscal policies.
· Oversee the bank’s prepaid expenses, accruals and fixed assets; ensure accuracy of department staff in managing these functions.
Financial Performance Management:
· Ensure monthly reporting to ownership, Board and bank executives is provided accurately and timely.
Risk Management:
· Manage firm’s overall risk by analyzing the liabilities and investments.
Treasury Management:
· Manage firm’s overall treasury function by considering cash and liquidity risks, ensuring that cash flow is appropriate for the bank’s operations.
Accounting and Compliance:
· Direct the preparation of all financial statements to ensure accurate, reliable information on income, expenses, assets, liabilities and capital.
· Work closely with federal examiners and outside auditors in their examinations of the organization, to ensure compliance and policies and procedures associate with that.
Partnerships within the Bank:
· Work closely with other C-Suite executives in strategic planning and implementation with focus on financial impacts of decision making.
· Collaborate and partner with other executives and Area Presidents to provide information or guidance about financial performance of specific market areas, business lines and/or cost centers.
· Serve on the bank’s ALCO committee; attends and reports at Board of Directors meetings.
· Work with colleagues on the Bank’s bond issuance.
Additional responsibilities:
· Bring a comprehensive understanding of economic trends, regulatory activity, and project the impact to organization, translating for the executive team.
· Provide financial advisory and assistance for branch expansion and contraction as well as strategic acquisitions.
· Oversee various vendor relations including the bank’s correspondent banking.
· Maintain strong working relationship with bank’s tax accountants.
· Embrace automation, implementation and AI technologies and seek to find automated, workflow or AI-assisted processes to maintain an advanced and efficient department where possible.
· Embrace the purpose and values established for the organization and reinforce these within the team.
· Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
· Minimum 5 years’ experience as CFO or similar executive financial position, with 10-15 years of overall experience.
· Experience in working with organization(s) reaching $100M in annual revenue.
· Bachelor’s degree in business, accounting, finance or related field required. MBA or graduate degree a plus. CPA a plus.
· Knowledge of investment strategies and interest rate risk analysis.
· Ability to lead a team, provide clear direction while also mentoring and coaching up as needed.
· Ability to interpret state and federal bank reporting requirements, procedures and workflows.
- · Working knowledge of computer programs and applications used for accounting and reporting; knowledge and experience with Plansmith budgeting/ALM software, preferred.
