Imaging Equipment Specialist- Kalamazoo, Full TimeThis position covers all Bronson locations, off sites, hospitals, and clinics with radiology equipment. Also, assists in the pre-purchase planning, procurement, and installation of diagnostic and therapeutic imaging equipment. Employees providing direct patient care must demonstrate competencies specific to the population served.
Minimum Qualifications:
· Meets or exceeds Bronson’s Standards for Excellence
· Associate degree in related field of medical electronics, electronic technology, imaging service technology, BMET certificate or equivalent military training and experience operating imaging test equipment.
· Minimum of 3 years’ experience servicing critical diagnostic imaging equipment.
· Critical modality manufacture or third-party training. Example: MRI, CT or Nuc Med
· X-Ray fundamentals certificate (RSTI, DITEC) or equivalent.
· Experience operating complex test equipment, noninvasive KV meter, oscilloscope, and other devices.
· Strong Project Management and Regulatory Compliance skills.
· Serves as a subject matter expert for technical issues.
· Serves as a mentor to Level I and Level II staff members.
· Completion of six professional development hours per year
Training, Education, Economic Value:
· Certified Radiology Equipment Service (CRES) preferred but not required.
· Network /CCNA are preferred.
· Economic value of in-house trained staff to decrease cost of outside labor and contract dollars. This will decrease the amount of downtime on high use equipment. In-house staff will be allowed flex time to provide maintenance during slow or down time.
· A Valid Michigan Driver's License is required. Must be able to be insured through Bronson's insurance carrier.

Supervision Received: Individual will report to the System Biomed Imaging Manager.
Working Relationships: Individual will maintain productive relationships with fellow workers, clinical, radiology and medical staff, vendors, manufacturers, and public. Needs to participate in meetings, seminars, training, workshops, and conferences as required.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty and responsibility satisfactorily.
Duties include:
· Must possess working knowledge of radiation physics, medical terminology, medical instrumentation, anatomy, physiology, imaging service techniques, 21 CFR (Code of Federal Regulation) (Code of Federal Regulations)
· Must possess broad knowledge and understanding of OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Administration), NFPA (National Fire Protection), The Joint Commission, EOC, and other specific regulations and standards pertaining to clinical and radiology equipment service and repair.
· Maintain up-to-date understanding of The Joint Commission and NFPA standards as well as state and federal regulations.
· Must possess specialized training by manufacturer or third-party equipment repair in such areas as MRI/CT, nuclear medicine, diagnostic x-ray, therapeutic x-ray, ultrasound, or radiation therapy equipment.
· Diagnose and correct system and equipment malfunctions.
· Maintain documentation on new equipment, inspections, and equipment repairs and failures.
· Provide technical assistance and instruction on equipment operation and maintenance to personnel.
· Perform related duties as assigned.
· Must be able to communicate (verbally and in writing) with medical staff, equipment users, technical peers, and department managers.
· Strong communication and interpersonal skills are required to interact positively with all levels of hospital personnel and vendors to achieve positive outcomes, including physicists, physicians, administration, etc.
· Meets target objectives and standards for timeliness and quality of Planned Maintenance (PM) schedules and repairs of general and specialized clinical equipment.
· Responsible for coordinating repairs with vendors and users when needed, this includes follow up paperwork and verification that issues are resolved.
· Attending training session on equipment maintenance to keep up to date on technological and medical equipment advances.
· Provides on-call service coverage after normal business hours on a rotating basis, as assigned.
· Work which produces elevated levels of mental/visual fatigue, e.g., interactive, and repetitive or small detailed work requiring alertness and concentration for sustained periods of time, the operation of and full attention to a personal computer or CRT between 40 and 70 percent of the time.
· Involves regularly lifting bulky or moderately heavy weights (i.e., up to fifty pounds), and occasionally assisting with heavier tasks or expending the equivalent effort in pushing, pulling, or otherwise handling material, equipment, and other objects.
