About the Job:
The RN Cardiovascular Education Specialist will act as a facilitator of learning and will serve as a change agent, mentor, leader, champion of scientific inquiry, and a partner for practice transition. The incumbent will use tools, theories, skills, and knowledge of the nursing professional development specialty to improve the healthcare practice of the perioperative learner; and will support both licensed and non-licensed personnel in onboarding, orientation, ongoing competency, and role development inclusive of RNs, Techs, Medical Assistants, sonographers, and any other support staff included in the cardiovascular setting. The RN Cardiovascular Education Specialist will facilitate collaborative partnerships and promote evidence- based practice and quality improvement initiatives.
What You’ll Do:
- In collaboration with each unit-based Resource RN, provide oversight and coordination of cardiovascular specifics including, but not limited to, on-boarding and orientation of new staff, education and competency management, research and/or evidence-based practice and quality improvement.
- Provide professional role development.
- Manage and is responsible for the cardiac surgery program education in collaboration with colleagues.
- Facilitate student observation in the department.
- Coordinate/facilitate educational activities in collaboration with other departments or representatives.
- Participate in new product evaluation and facilitate education for staff when new product or equipment is introduced.
- Participate and represent the department in committees and meetings.
- In collaboration with each leader, support all cardiovascular services including PACU/Pre-Op/ Cardiac Cath Lab, Cardiac Testing, CV practices and Cardiac Rehab.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Work must be performed on-site.
Who you are:
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing required. Master’s degree in nursing preferred.
- Current license in the State of New Hampshire as a Registered Nurse required.
- A minimum of five (5) years clinical experience in cardiology, vascular and cardiac surgery intensive care required.
- Experience in the care of the cardiothoracic patients.
- Comprehension of the concepts of hemodynamics and pacemakers.
- Knowledge of the theories, principles, and practice of professional nursing development with understanding of education curriculum design and technology
