JOB DESCRIPTION Position Title: Staff Fellow, Department of Neurology Reports To: Division Chief, Division of Neuro-Oncology ______________________________________________________________________________ POSITION SUMMARY Duties will include providing direct patient care under supervisor in the Sylvester Cancer Center outpatient clinic. During these months incumbent will participate in the medical treatment of brain tumors, neuroradiology and neuro-pathology with clinical research and basic research pathways. The incumbent will be expected to come to the attending physician’s outpatient clinics (3-4 a week). As skills are developed during the year incumbent will lead the office visits independently and will be able to perform all medical and diagnostic procedures considered essential for the practice of neurological oncology. Incumbent will participate in research projects and meetings and will develop a topic to work on during the fellowship year. Time and mentorship will be provided to develop a clinical research project and prepare findings for presentation at a national meeting and for publication. Incumbent is expected to learn and properly perform neuro oncology billing, participate in quality improvement projects and learn about the administrative processes of an intensive care unit. Attendance at didactic teaching sessions weekly is expected as well as educational presentations to other hospital and academic services as appropriate. Education and experience: Requires an MD degree from a recognized accredited University (or foreign equivalent). License: Florida Medical License or equivalent is required. Knowledge Skills and Abilities: Good communications skills (face to face, over the phone and in writing) Excellent customer service skills Ability to work collaboratively with other employees. Good organizational skills. WORK CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL ACTIVITY REQUIREMENTS Work conditions: Work is normally performed in an indoor office environment. Subject to frequent interruptions. Physical Activity Requirements: Hearing and speaking to exchange information in person or by telephone. Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate keyboard and other office equipment. Reaching to retrieve and maintain files. Bending, pushing, moving and lifting files, documents and objects weighing up to approximately 15-20 pounds.
