Supervisor, Building Facilities The University of Miami/UHealth Department of Facilities has an exciting opportunity for a Full Time Supervisor, Building Facilities to work at the UHealth Medical Campus. The Supervisor, Building Facilities plans operational policies and procedures, oversees facility staff and budgeting, and supervises the use of supplies and equipment. Moreover, this position coordinates and integrates the activities of all operational systems to ensure efficiency. The Supervisor, Building Facilities supports management in overseeing the work of maintenance mechanics, skilled tradespeople, and contractors by offering instruction, guidance and directives to the assigned team while actively involved in one or more of the trades. Keeps watch over facility equipment and ensures any repairs are completed in a timely fashion. Maintains records associated with operating the facility, such as inventory of supplies. Ensures compliance with applicable safety, health, and environmental regulations. Coordinates security efforts with facility staff and external entities, such as law enforcement. Develops and maintains an emergency preparedness plan to protect the facility and its occupants. Seeks and proposes ways to reduce costs while improving efficiency. Responsible for managing assigned University of Miami Research Buildings, Physical Plant personnel. Directs daily workflow and determines resources needed to complete work. • Makes frequent visits to all departments to stay appraised to facilities conditions or problems, and to obtain feedback regarding customer satisfaction with Physical Plant services. Administers and maintains the Facilities Maintenance Program (TMA) and all preventive maintenance procedures throughout his/her area of responsibility. Supervises and directs the activities of three or more full-time staff with authority to recommend the hiring, firing, and disciplining in collaboration with the Executive Director of Facilities and Support Services. Oversees individual employee development and training, and conducts performance evaluations. Keeps track of the KRONOS time reporting records and is responsible to approve the payroll time recording on the scheduled day and time of personnel assigned to the position. • Ensures quality standards for campus conditions and plans ahead minimize disruptions. Addresses emergencies and takes corrective action. Handles scheduling adjustments Collaborates and builds relationships with a variety of audiences The specialty trade is responsible for all phases of specialty work including construction, alteration, and maintenance buildings, systems, controls, and components for the Medical Campus. Train and coach team members, and lead by example, provide learning opportunities for best practices. Organize and distribute work and materials. Follow up to ensure quality and completeness of work through visual inspection of assigned buildings and area. Core Qualifications High School diploma or equivalent Five (5) or more years of experience in the routine maintenance and repair of building equipment and systems components utilizing several building trades. The individual must possess valid motor vehicle operator’s license as issues by the State prior to appointment. The person must maintain such valid license during tenure of employment. Knowledge, Skills and Attitudes: Ability to effectively plan, delegate and/or supervise the work of others. Ability to lead, motivate, develop and train others. Commitment to the University’s core values. Ability to maintain effective interpersonal relationships. Overall knowledge of building maintenance and/or Facilities Management in specialty trade preferred (Electrician, Plumber, etc.) Knowledge of standard tools, materials, practices of trades areas assigned. Knowledge of occupation hazards and safety precautions of trades. Physically able to perform tasks as outlined. Able to read, write and speak English to work with the Work Order Management System. Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions. Knowledge of occupational hazards and safety precautions involved when maintaining Platn equipment and systems components. Ability to establish and maintain satisfactory working relationships with the public and other employees. Make estimate of time, materials and equipment for use in maintenance and repair work. Any relevant education, certifications and/or work experience may be considered.
