This position is challenged to provide pharmaceutical care under the direct supervision of a registered pharmacist to each of its customers to varying extent; the preparation, distribution, and handling of pharmaceuticals; advice for administration, provision of drug information and general drug therapy monitoring within Renown Health System.
The major challenge is to harmoniously bridge the distributive responsibilities of the pharmacy with the clinical responsibilities. This position is responsible for ensuring that medications are dispensed in a timely, accurate manner with the assistance of the technical staff. In addition, this position is responsible for identifying, evaluating, and interpreting drug therapy in various areas. The incumbent can recommend appropriate drug therapy to the physician, monitor therapy per protocol, and is expected to initiate appropriate formulary procedures.
The incumbent must provide optimal patient care through assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of neonatal, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients and families.
Per State law, all orders for prescription and non-prescription medications prepared by an intern must be checked and initialed by a licensed pharmacist prior to being dispensed.
The incumbent is challenged to assist in the training of pharmacy technicians and students.
The incumbent will be responsible for all activities of pharmacy technicians to ensure that those activities are performed completely, safely and without risk to patients.
The incumbent will be required to work varying shifts and days to meet the needs of the department which operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Overtime may be required.
The incumbent is expected to attend on a regular basis staff meetings, pharmacist meetings, technician meetings, etc.
This position does not provide patient care.
