Job Summary:
The Ropes and Rails and Paddock and Winners Circle Attendant is responsible for ensuring the safety of our guests, staff, jockeys and horses while in the area of the bridal path, track, Paddock and Winners Circle areas of Canterbury. The Ropes and Rails and Paddock and Winners Circle Attendant will ensure that each guest attending any event held at Canterbury Park is welcomed with the highest level of customer service.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

- Responsible for maintaining a high degree of hospitality, as well as a positive and professional demeanor at all times.
- Creates high levels of morale, fosters teamwork, inspires collaboration, delegates effectively and coaches and mentors direct reports for growth opportunities.
- Initiates and practices the highest level of guest service by ensuring that new and returning guests are provided with an exceptional experience.
- Engage in meaningful and personalized conversation while assisting customers in making informed choices regarding their Canterbury experience.

- Ensure that guests are welcomed into a clean, safe and professional environment by taking ownership and having pride of the overall cleanliness of your work area.
- Review and retain information from the Canterbury Post in order to support and promote all business units by communicating details of marketing promotions and upcoming events.
- Keep guests at a safe distance from the bridal path and out of controlled areas.
- Open ropes/rails for horses and riders as they are escorted onto the track.
- Close ropes/rails once the outriders come back inside.
- Open gate for individuals entering and exiting Paddock and Winners Circle.
- Ensure only permitted persons are entering the Paddock and Winners Circle.
- Accommodate company vehicles entering/exiting the track.
- Observe horses closely and be prepared to react to rearing horses quickly.
- Assist in enforcing outside food and beverage policy and prohibited items.
- Ability to pay extreme attention to surrounding environment due to the safety sensitive part of the job.
- Perform all other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
- Must be at least 16 years of age.
- Ability to interact with guests and co-workers in a professional manner.
- Must be able to pass Canterbury Park’s pre-employment screening which includes a criminal background check and verification of work history.
- Must be able to attain a Minnesota Racing Commission (MRC) license.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule; including nights, early mornings, weekends and holidays as dictated by the event calendar.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous customer service experience.
