At 207 Small Engine Repair, LLC. we are a family-owned small engine repair shop dedicated to providing fast, exceptional and quality repair, sales & maintenance services for push mowers, riding mowers, zero turns, snowblowers, generators, weed trimmers, chainsaws, leaf blowers, and other small engines. We are an Authorized Toro & Echo Dealership for Sales & Service. We take pride in offering reliable, top-quality service in a fun, family-oriented environment. Our team is close-knit, supportive, and motivated to help each other succeed. We do require all employees to sign an nda. We do not currently offer benefits (health, retirement), but plan to in the near future. For the first year, we do offer 1 week pto, paid lunch & select paid holidays. We value integrity, quality work, and a strong sense of teamwork. We are taking our time with the hiring process to make sure whoever we bring onto our team is a great fit. We would prefer to bring someone on sooner than later, but we will not rush into anything as we want to make sure that whoever we hire, is in it for the long haul and will be a great addition to the family. We’re looking for an experienced Small Engine Repair Mechanic to join our team and help us continue to provide outstanding service. Whether you have specific experience with small engines or automotive repair, we’ll help provide the training necessary to become proficient in the tools and systems we use. We’re committed to your growth and success, and there’s always potential for advancement as part of our growing business.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Repair and Maintenance:
  • Detailed and accurate diagnoses and repairs of a variety of small engines, including push mowers, riding mowers, zero turns, snowblowers, generators, weed trimmers, chainsaws, leaf blowers, and other outdoor power equipment.
  • Perform basic routine maintenance tasks such as oil changes, blade sharpening, spark plug replacements, and air filter servicing.
  • Troubleshoot a wide variety of mechanical issues, identify problems, and provide solutions to restore equipment to peak performance.
  • Keep detailed records of repairs, maintenance, and parts used via our computer system (training will be provided).
  • Customer Interaction:
  • Communicate efficiently and clearly with front office staff and customers regarding diagnoses, repair estimates, and timelines for completion.
  • Maintain a professional and friendly demeanor when interacting with customers in person and over the phone.
  • Ensure that customers are satisfied with the work performed and address any concerns or questions they may have.
  • Collaboration and Teamwork:
  • Work effectively with other mechanics and shop staff, providing support when needed, and sharing expertise to solve challenging repairs.
  • Maintain a cooperative and positive attitude in a team-oriented environment.
  • Be adaptable and flexible in supporting various shop needs, from heavy mechanical repairs to minor service work.
  • Organization and Efficiency:
  • Maintain a clean and organized workspace to ensure safety and productivity.
  • Stay on top of scheduled repairs and ensure jobs are completed within established timeframes.
  • Use available computer systems and diagnostic tools to record job details and inventory updates (training provided).
  • Tool and Equipment Management:
  • Bring your own mechanic tools and be prepared to obtain some small engine-specific tools as needed (we can provide assistance with acquiring them).
  • Ensure that all tools and equipment are kept in proper working order and are safely stored.
  • Ongoing Learning and Certifications:
  • Participate in ongoing training and development, including earning certifications with brands like Kawasaki, Briggs & Stratton, and Kohler (we will assist you with certification if not already achieved).
  • Stay current with industry trends and technological advancements to improve skills and repair capabilities.

Ideal Candidate Traits:

  • Mechanical Experience: Previous experience working as a mechanic is required— Highly preferred that the individual has previous small engine repair experience (automotive mechanics are also welcome if they are willing and motivated to learn & get certifications). Understanding of mechanical systems, 4 stroke, 2 stroke, tools, and diagnostics is essential.
  • Detail-Oriented: High attention to detail, ensuring every repair is completed thoroughly and with precision.
  • Self-Sufficient: Ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and take initiative on repairs without constant supervision.
  • Customer-Centered: Excellent communication skills and the ability to engage with customers patiently and kindly, addressing their concerns and providing helpful guidance.
  • Reliable and Responsible: Dependable, punctual, and consistent in the quality of work. A high level of responsibility is expected.
  • Team Player: Comfortable working both independently and as part of a team, supporting others and learning from colleagues when necessary.
  • Motivated and Long-Term Focused: Highly motivated with a strong desire for personal and professional growth. Committed to staying with the company long-term and contributing to its success.
  • Tech-Savvy: Ability to learn and operate basic computer programs for inventory, job tracking, and customer communication (we’ll provide training).
  • Flexible and Adaptable: Comfortable with a fast-paced environment and adaptable to changing shop needs.
  • Safety-Conscious: Able to adhere to safety procedures and guidelines to ensure the workplace remains accident-free.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Proven mechanical background, ideally in small engine repair (automotive mechanics are welcome as well), details listed above.
  • Ability to bring mechanic tools (specific small engine repair tools will be needed, but we can assist in acquiring them).
  • Ability to lift up to 50lbs and perform manual labor as needed.
  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
  • Must be able to pass a background check and drug test.
