What are the responsibilities and job description for the Line Cook position at 21 Greenpoint?
Experienced line cook needed to help bring our new daytime program to life. We have been open for dinner service for nearly a decade, aspiring to a high quality, classically executed, casual restaurant experience and have begun the process of expanding our hours to include a daytime program. Our ideal candidate would be someone with the experience to execute the menu and the character/creativity to play a role in helping shape the menu's implementation.
Must have:
- A minimum of 2 years of experience as a Line Cook in high-volume restaurants. (Experience with brunch is a plus)
- Should be able to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods
- Strong knowledge of food safety regulations, sanitation standards and allergen handling
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English
- Must be able to work mornings, weekends and holidays
- Must be able to work in the US
- Must be able to work calmly, and with respect for co-workers, under pressure.
- Cleaning, cleanliness and organization must always be front-of-mind and constant.
Things to consider before applying: There ARE some stairs. More importantly, this is a completely new program/menu in an already existing restaurant so flexibility and teamwork will be extremely important as we move towards menu testing and the opening of the new daytime program. This early stage will be extremely dynamic, the menu will likely be developing as we near opening and will change seasonally after opening. You must be able to think on your feet and you must be comfortable learning multiple stations, new techniques and willing to shift your role with the changing needs of the kitchen.
Approx. 30 hrs a week to start but hours will eventually expand and opportunities for more hours will become available.
Food Handler’s Card is a plus.
