Company Overview:
21st Amendment is located in San Leandro, CA and is a fast-growing provider of co-packing and brewery services, specializing in the production and packaging of premium beverages. In addition to our own beer brand, we currently co-pack beverages for 20 diverse customers. In addition, we operate two retail restaurant locations. Position Overview:
The Controller is a senior member of our Leadership Team and the head of our finance department. The Controller is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day financial functions of the company to ensure management has timely and accurate financial information and to provide analysis, counsel, advice and recommendations to help company and top-level management make operating decisions to reduce costs, improve profits and return on investment, and to achieve goals and plans.
Key Responsibilities Include:
- Preparing, maintaining and reporting financial statements, cash flow statements, and asset statements in a timely fashion
- Preparing budgets, financial projections and modeling
- Providing financial statement analysis and strategy
- Cash flow, banking, payroll management
- Approving invoices
- Establishing, monitoring, and enforcing internal financial controls
- Regulatory and tax compliance and reporting, risk management
- Audit liaison and management
- Fulfilling US GAAP reporting standards
- Managing and developing three direct reports
- Aligning the company financials to industry standards for costs, general ledger and financial reporting consistency
- Reporting financial results on operational performance (variance to plan, analysis of variances etc.)
- Lead the charge in the implementation of an ERP
To be successful in this role you should have:
- At least 7-10 years of related experience with increasing levels of responsibility and seniority
- Preferably 3 to 5 years’ experience as a Controller in a manufacturing environment
- Must have a Bachelor's degree, preferably in Finance/Accounting
- CPA a plus
- Experience as an auditor is highly desirable however candidate must have experience going through a full audit
- ERP/MRP selection and implementation experience is highly desirable
- Must be able to work in a team environment with leadership experience
- Must have a mindset of continuous improvement and a commitment to excellence
- A focused, detailed and disciplined approach to tasks
- The ability to prioritize and strong organization skills
- Strong Microsoft Excel and analytical skills, ability to distill insights and propose relevant recommendations for financial variances
