Key Responsibilities:
- Provide nursing care in a correctional facility or state-operated institution, including observation, assessment, and recording of symptoms and reactions of patients.
- Take and record vital signs, administer prescribed medications, treatments, and immunizations, and monitor patients on a regular schedule.
- Respond to medical emergencies by administering first aid, arranging transportation to a hospital, contacting physicians, and referring patients as needed.
- Participate in staff development, education, and orientation for new employees.
- Perform specialized procedures such as IV therapy, chemotherapy, wound care, oxygen therapy, dialysis, blood transfusions, CPR, tube feeding, catheterization, suctioning, and phlebotomy.
- Manage administrative tasks such as completing incident reports, documenting medical information, ordering supplies, and maintaining inventory of controlled substances and equipment.
- Ensure all required reports, such as Medicaid documentation and prescriptions, are completed in a timely manner.
- Act as a lead worker on shifts, overseeing other healthcare staff when necessary.
- Coordinate with medical staff to schedule out-patient appointments and medical exams.
