Job Title: Workers' Compensation Claims Adjuster

Key Responsibilities:
- Determine occupational illness or injury compensability by reviewing Workers' Compensation claims and reports
- Authorize and compute benefit payments for injured workers
- Investigate claims from onset to resolution, including reviewing claim reports from physicians
- Explain benefits and legal rights to injured workers under Workers' Compensation Laws
- Pursue subrogation and litigation cases, and correspond with doctors and attorneys on litigated cases
General Liability Experience:
- Review property and liability claims, determining County liability and estimating settlement value
- Makes recommendations on claim settlement or denial within assigned authority
- Determines coverages for the County's self-insurance liability program
- Conducts investigations into claims involving County vehicles, property, or employees
- Interviews witnesses and prepares reports of findings
- AUTHORIZES SUBROGATION AND MAKES RECOMMENDATIONS FOR COURT ACTIONS WHEN COLLECTIONS CANNOT BE MADE
- Represents the County in Small Claims Court
