Job Title: Correctional/Nurse Practitioner
Location: Lebanon, OH 45036
Duration: 6 months with possible extension
Shifts: 32 Hours weekly
This position is responsible for providing high-quality medical care to patients within a correctional facility.
Key Responsibilities:
- Monitor patient progress and intervene in the course of chronic illnesses, using ODRC policies and protocols for guidance
- Inoculate or vaccinate against communicable diseases, prescribe medications, administer treatment of acute and chronically ill patients, and perform minor surgery as training and competency allow
- Perform routine physical exams of patients to determine control or status of chronic conditions and diagnose new conditions
- Evaluate patients for specialty referral consultations inside or outside the institution and review said consult reports for recommendations, approving or disapproving accordingly
- Order and review laboratory, x-ray, and other diagnostic testing as appropriate
- Facilitate completion of medical reclassification and requests for non-formulary medications as necessary
- Provide routine and emergency medical care of patients as scheduled
- Examine, diagnose, and treat patients within scope of practice, as identified by the State of Ohio Nursing Board, as applicable
- Conduct rounds on infirmary patients as deemed appropriate by the CMO
- Document medical information gathered during patient interviews according to ODRC Office of Correctional Healthcare guidelines, policies, protocols, and related American Correctional Association standards currently in practice
