Job Description
Primary Responsibilities:
- Examine and diagnose patients, providing accurate treatment and prescribing medications as needed.
- Conduct physical examinations and offer general medical services to patients.
- Record detailed summaries of each patient consultation in their medical chart.
- Refer patients to specialist medical or clinical professionals when necessary.
- Ensure the improvement of patient health and quality of life through effective diagnosis and treatment.
- Independently address daily medical issues and provide guidance on policy or exceptional situations.
- Provide medical supervision to other clinical staff members.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Medical Doctor with a valid Virginia license.
- Board eligible or certified in psychiatric, internal medicine, family practice, emergency medicine, or other similar medical/surgical specialty.
- Graduation from an accredited medical school.
- Considerable experience in active medical treatment and management.
- Skill in technical and management aspects of healthcare quality improvement and performance management.
- Competence in evaluation, diagnostic, and treatment planning.
- Competence in staff education and supervision.
- Ability to manage individual quality improvement projects and a quality improvement/quality assurance enterprise.
- Ability to translate project findings into sustainable practice using conventional healthcare system approaches.
- Knowledge of conventional individual and healthcare system performance metrics and their application.
- Skill in communication, healthcare education, and working with multi-disciplinary teams.
- Ability to work cooperatively with the nursing department and allied health professionals under the Healthcare Administrator.
Addition Considerations:
- Experience working in a correctional medical setting.
- Direct participation in quality improvement and quality assurance programming as the department head or private/group practice.
