Job Title: Universal Banker

Reports To: Branch Manager

Summary: This position is the Customer Ambassador for the bank with the overall purpose of providing quality and efficiency to customers who prefer face-to-face interaction with the bank. This position will have a thorough understanding of the customer’s transaction requirements and be able to effectively communicate all available options to them. They will educate customers about 22nd State Bank’s sales and service delivery options and refer the appropriate products and services matching the customer needs. This position will also refer customers to the appropriate source or channel to address their need. They will also be responsible for the processing of regular transactions, such as receiving and paying out money, and keeping records of money and negotiable instruments involved in financial transactions in an efficient, friendly and accurate manner. Provides personalized banking services to financial institution customers by performing the following duties.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

With a good understanding of the bank products/services and the customer’s current relationship, offers information on bank products and services that can benefit the customer and enhance their banking relationship. (Listens to the customer’s needs and matches those needs to the bank’s products and services resulting in referrals.)

  • Evaluates needs of potential customers and offers appropriate financial products and services by listening for cues regarding lifestyle or by reviewing customer account status. Makes these product and service recommendations in order to solidify the relationship with the customer.
  • Prepares and compiles new customer application and opens new accounts to assist customers with their needs. Ensures that all federal regulations are complied with. Provides the customer with a copy of disclosures.
  • Prepares and compiles customer application and information for loans. Calculates debt to income ratios, loan to value (for secured loans), and payment amounts. Communicates this information with the customer to ensure the payment amount is within the customer’s budget. Ensures all bank loan disclosures and other mandatory loan regulation information is communicated and delivered to the customer.
  • Provides ongoing relationship servicing with current customers to maintain goodwill and gain additional business.
  • Informs and advises customers of status or enhancements to current account productivity and suggests resolution on account disputes and other account activity.
  • Responds to customer inquiries and requests regarding account.
  • Promotes and cross-sells other establishment products and services as appropriate to customer requirements.
  • Generates new business to assist in meeting establishment profitability goals.
  • Receives checks and cash for deposit to savings and checking accounts, verifies deposit amounts, examines checks for endorsement and negotiability, and enters savings transactions into bank records via an on-line terminal. Prepares required regulatory reports and forms based on compliance thresholds.

Qualifications:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

  • Education/Experience: High school diploma or general education degree (GED); and one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Language Skills: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
  • Math Skills: Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
  • Reasoning Skills: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Computer Skills: To perform this job successfully, an individual should have proficient knowledge of Windows and Microsoft Office software (Outlook, Word, and Excel) and advanced keyboarding and ten-key skills.

Work Hours

Usual work hours are Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with one hour off for lunch. Overtime work may be required from time to time.

Each 22nd State Bank employee must comply with all federal and state regulations, policies, and procedures. This is to include all applicable governmental laws, rules and regulations relevant to their job including all Bank Secrecy Act regulations.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $12.00 - $14.00 per hour
