TITLE: Occupational Therapy Assistant
FLSA STATUS: Non-Exempt
QUALIFICATIONS:
Must be a graduate of an accredited occupational therapy assistant program and hold a current NCBOT license to practice as an occupational therapy assistant in the state of North Carolina. Pediatric experience is preferred.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Maintains a caseload of approximately 50-100 monthly student treatments with supervision from the Occupational Therapist.
Collaborates with the Occupational Therapist regarding the progress of students on caseload and reports significant changes in student status.
Writes progress notes following each treatment session and documents all communication regarding students.
Administers (but not interprets) standardized tests as directed by the supervising Occupational Therapist.
Communicates with the classroom teachers regarding the students’ progress and gives classroom suggestions to help meet IEP goals.
Supervises teachers (caregivers)/students in return demonstration of therapy procedures taught to them.
Grades student IEP progress quarterly and submits copy to teacher to send home with student report card.
Informs supervising OT of student IEP expiration date, IEP planning meetings, and IEP team meetings.
Attends IEP meetings as needed.
Assists with fabricating splints and other adaptive equipment as needed.
Attends OT/PT staff meetings.
Assists with providing inservices for school staff.
Assists with Occupational Therapy Department program planning and ordering of equipment.
Maintains professional license criteria according to guidelines set by the North Carolina Board of Occupational Therapy including 10 hours of continuing education per year.
Submits billable minutes of direct OT treatment per Medicaid billing procedures.

Performs other duties and accepts responsibilities as assigned.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Must be able to communicate orally and in writing with parents, staff, and community leaders.
Must have finger dexterity and be physically able to perform the basic life operational functions of kneeling, sitting, walking, stooping, reaching, lifting, pushing, pulling, talking, seeing, hearing, and repetitive motion.
Hand and finger dexterity for accurate input and output of computer data.
Must be able to express and exchange ideas by means of spoken word.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
Must possess a valid North Carolina driver’s license.
Salary : $4,133 - $6,667
