Job description
The 23rd Judicial District Attorney is looking for a Legal Assistant to join our team in Donaldsonville, LA. This is an entry level position with room for growth and development. The Legal Assistant will be responsible for supporting the day-to-day operations of the firm. The ideal candidate should be able to work independently and have excellent organizational skills. We are looking for someone who is a quick learner and has a positive attitude.

- Must be able to work weekends and holidays as needed.
Duties include, but are not limited to: Provide administrative support to Assistant District Attorneys, including reviewing and intake of all drug cases, obtaining and reviewing rap sheets, crime lab reports, and body camera videos and other evidence. Managing discovery and pleadings, including preparation of bills of information and indictments and issuance of subpoenas. Managing incoming calls, emails, correspondence and zoom conferences. Organize and maintain up-to-date and orderly assigned office files, and continually record and update information and docket management . Maintain a working knowledge of and abide by the Agency’s programs, policies, and procedures. Interact with law enforcement, defense attorneys and witnesses. Prepare cases for motion hearings and trial.
Physical Requirements:
- Regularly required to walk, talk and/or hear
- Speaking and hearing ability should be sufficient to communicate effectively by phone or in person at normal volumes
- Vision adequate to read correspondence, computer screen, forms, etc.
- Specific vision abilities required by this position include the ability to adjust focus
- Occasionally required to stand and climb or balance
- Ability to lift and/or move up to 25 lbs.
