Job description
Our client, a leader in the Financial Services industry, is looking for a Corporate Communications and Public Affairs Manager. Role duration is 6 months, with potential to extend. Role will be completely remote (EST work hours preferred).
Overview:
This is a temporary position designed to cover the responsibilities of an employee on maternity leave for about six months on the Corporate External Relations and Public Affairs team. The role will support the public affairs and stakeholder engagement strategies as well as external storytelling around the company’s approach to credit innovation and responsible credit access, financial education initiatives and workplace culture. This position will drive and shape engaging storytelling content to garner mindshare with media, key external influencers, policymakers, business community, and consumers. The candidate should have experience in media relations. Background in public affairs a plus.
- Execute public affairs and stakeholder engagement strategies; shape and structure clear, compelling messages to enhance and protect brand reputation.
- Advance and drive integrated storytelling campaigns around the company’s credit innovation and financial education/Citizenship initiatives across external channels and track results.
- Drive positive reputation coverage and support influencer engagement highlighting the brand as a purpose-driven company that builds employee belief, as a great place to work and as a responsible corporate citizen.
- Develop communications plans, briefings, talking points, and external materials for media, external influencers and executives. Work with subject matter experts on shaping content and securing approvals.
- Develop, coordinate and prepare executives for select media and influencer events.
- Own and support reputation management on key areas as needed.
- Experience pitching business, financial and workplace media
- 10 years of external relations experience (ideally a combination in-house and PR firm)
- Excellent communications skills (written and verbal)
- Proficiency in media relations tools such as Cision
- Public affairs and corporate PR experience a strong plus
- Ability to foster strong relationships with key executives and external audiences
- Takes initiative, anticipates next steps and sets high standards in all s/he does; exceptional attention to detail
- Good judgment and calm composure particularly in high pressure times
- Trustworthy and able to keep highly sensitive information confidential
- Able to independently structure, manage workflow and priorities and adapt as business needs change
- Business priority mindset where communications directly contributes to the business strategy
