Lead the oversight of the delivery of care and overall quality of services provided by our company, and will participate in the training and supervision of direct care staff. The Director of Nursing works closely with other members of the leadership team to execute BrightStar Care’s promise of a higher standard of premium person-centered care from companion level services to skilled care.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Coordination of care for the client, identification of client’s needs through the assessment process, and implementation of the plan of care and supervisory process.
- Effectively communicates with families, community partners and other health care providers to ensure adequacy of services provided and supervision of staff.
- Prepares clinical and progress notes and summaries of care.
- Compliance and promotion of the standards of quality set forth by BrightStar Care and the Joint Commission.
- Promotes home health referrals in the health care community.
- Oversees the maintenance of client clinical records, statistics, reports, and records for purposes of evaluation and reporting of organization activities.
- Responsible for evaluation and approval of monthly audits of employee and client files conducted by the Assistant Director of Nursing using the company provided audit forms. In the absence of an Assistant Director of Nursing, the Director of Nursing is responsible for conducting monthly audits of employee and client files.
- Assists in the development of organization goals. Develops, recommends and administers company policies and procedures.
- Ongoing assessment, skill and competency review of the care staff to ensure quality care and high level of performance.
- Supervises, educates and coaches other nursing personnel / care-giving staff.
- Plans and implements in-service and training programs.
- Responsible for ensuring nurse / clinical oversight by delivering clinical orientation to all new hires and ensuring all six company required competency tests are completed.
- Stays informed about changes in the field of nursing and home health care. Shares information with appropriate organization personnel.
- Provides direct patient care as defined within the scope of the state’s nurse practice act.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS EDUCATION
Bachelor’s of Science degree in Nursing preferred
SKILLS / ABILITIES
Current unrestricted RN license in state for which care is being provided.
Minimum one (1) year of documented clinical experience required. Three (3) to five (5) years of clinical experience with one (1) year experience in a home health agency, primary care clinic or health facility preferred.
One (1) to three (3) years of people leading experience.
Certification CPR (ARC).
Current physical or T.B. / PPD test, if applicable.
Licensed driver with reliable transportation that is insured in accordance with the organization’s requirements.
Clean motor vehicle record, background and criminal record.
Understanding of compliance with state and federal regulations.
Adherence to HIPAA and ability to maintain client confidentiality.
Joint Commission experience a plus.
