What are the responsibilities and job description for the Blending / Batching Operator position at 247 Packaging Corp?
The Blending / Batching Operator is responsible for preparing and mixing
ingredients required to produce syrup for use in bottling operations based upon mixing
instructions and ensuring the completion of clean-in-place (CIP) processes raw
ingredients into a RTD beverage on a daily basis, using blending equipment. Blending /
Batching employ their knowledge of the blending & batching process and their control
over our internal infrastructure to produce high-quality “Ready to Drink” beverages to
the exact specifications called on by any given recipe. They conduct the controlled
introduction of specifically prescribed (variety and quantity) into every batch of
beverages. This position consists of a limited diversity of functionally sensitive, time-
consuming tasks that must be completed in specific orientations and on tight temporal
schedules to meet high client expectations and strict production deadlines. Blending /
Batching Operators must uphold strict sanitary practices as they handle our product in
its most vulnerable stages.
Key Responsibilities:
Review daily production schedules to coordinate product to be run
Responsible for control of syrup flow to production lines
Mix and blend ingredients to create various batches according to formulations
and mixing instructions
Ensure all products are manufactured safely by following Good Manufacturing
Practices and Safe Quality Food standards
Partner with Quality Assurance and Lab to maintain product specifications and
ensure food quality
Maintain, clean, and sanitize batch room equipment, area, and tools
Cleaning and sanitation of production lines following the appropriate process as
determined by the flavor characteristics and the sanitation matrix
Responsible for monitoring and control of ingredients
Maintain documentation and records of lot numbers, quantities, and expiration
dates
Safe operation of powered industrial forklift for moving raw materials
Works independently in the Filtration /Cellars areas on a shift rotation basis
Follows Safety protocols and wears appropriate Personal Protective Equipment
Executes Beverage Blending schedules as per the published plan
Follows Safety and Quality protocols as per SOPs and directions from Lead
Hands and Supervisor and other 247 Packaging Management. Knowledgeable
regarding 247 Packaging Food Safety and Food Quality Standards (BRC, GMP,
HACCP).
Follows the Recipe Formulations for blending Ready to ready-to-drink beverages.
Documents Batch sheets with ingredient quantities and Lot Numbers used to
make RTD beverages
Follows SOPs for washing and sanitation of Blending preparation and RTD
Storage Vessels and associated transfer line
Rinsing out of transfer lines and preparation vessels after RTD prepared
Sample collection for Quality checks on RTD beverages
Use C-Box to check Dissolved Oxygen, CO2, and temperature of blends
As directed in recipes carbonates and nitrogenate blends
Dilution of RTD into Storage Vessels and Bright Beer Tank Vessels
Monitors and organizes inventories of stored RTD ingredients in terms of product
type, lot code, and expiry dates. Follows the FIFO principle for ingredient usage.
Communicates to Brewers, Cellars, Filtration, and Management teams key
information regarding the Blending Processes (Safety Issues, Quality Issues,
Efficiency Issues, Tank and varied Equipment Issues). Supports wider Brewing
Department when required (such as inventory, and periodic deep cleaning of
areas).
Ability to understand and troubleshoot basic RTD makeup process (completes
