JOB DESCRIPTION: Under the supervision of the judge and court administrator, the probation officer performs a wide range of activities including, but not limited to, monitoring a dedicated caseload of both treatment court and regular probation, attending training and educational seminars as needed, meeting and monitoring individuals sentenced to probation, and representing the probation department in court proceedings. The candidate must be organized, able to work independently and as part of a team, be adaptable and detail oriented. The candidate must be able to multitask, possess strong problem-solving skills, work ethic and time management.
GENERAL SUMMARY OF DUTIES:
· With consultation of the court administrator, establishes and implements policies and procedures to comply with legislative and/or local changes and stays current with best practices and research in the field of probation.
· Tracks and manages probation data and compiles statistical reports.
· Manages a caseload of behavioral treatment court, ISP, and standard probation cases.
· Conducts presentence investigations and alcohol screenings. Submits timely, written reports with recommendations to the judge or the court.
· Conducts domestic bond investigations by reviewing police reports and contacting alleged victims. Provides verbal reports, on the record and in open court, with recommendations.
· Effectively communicates with the judge, court administrator, attorneys, and other community leaders.
· Reviews current caseloads to ensure compliance with established policy and procedures.
· Collaborates with outside agencies such as police, prosecution and defense, social service agencies, housing agencies, and schools in order to facilitate and implement programs and assist participants.
QUALIFICATIONS:
· The candidate shall possess a minimum of a bachelor's degree in criminal justice, psychology, counseling, or a closely related field.
· Five or more years’ experience as a probation officer, or combination of probation and court related experience.
· Must have prior experience as a probation agent.
· Must have experience monitoring all types of criminal cases placed on probation including cases involving alcohol abuse, substance use/abuse, assaultive cases, theft cases, and driving offenses.
· Must have experience monitoring reporting, non-reporting, and intensive supervisory caseloads.
· Prior experience with specialty court programs. Sobriety Court, Veteran’s Court, Mental Health Court, or Drug Court experience preferred.
· Must have strong word processing and typing skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Office is a must, including Work and Excel.
· The candidate must be able to communicate with difficult clients, able to deescalate situations, and provide excellent customer service.
· Employees will be fingerprinted.

Pay: $28.00 - $62,400.00 per hour
