SUMMARY OF POSITION:
The Systems Administrator is responsible for building and maintaining various technical systems, projects, and knowledge bases across local and cloud environments to ensure operational and support teams have access to highly secure and highly available tools and systems necessary for business operations. The Systems Administrator acts as the subject matter expert on IT solutions and addresses IT business challenges with data-driven decisions while taking full ownership of project execution and deliverables. The Systems Administrator is highly motivated, self-driven, and an excellent communicator with a proven record of cross-functional collaboration and advanced technical skillsets.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Systems & Infrastructure Management
- Management of design, implementation, and operations of M365 and Azure multi-tenant environment including but not limited to: M365 Administration, Management of the overall policies of Entra, Identity & User Management, and Enterprise Application Management.
- Administer and manage Microsoft Intune for device management, endpoint security, and compliance enforcement.
- Configure and manage Microsoft 365 B2B collaboration challenges, optimizing cross-tenant access and security configurations.
- Support and manage Palo Alto Prisma across the environment and policy enforcement, working closely with the partners to ensure alignment with security best practices.
- Manage and audit core security tools (SentinelOne, Duo, Avanan) to ensure proper security coverage and compliance.
- Administer and manage additional platfoms and tools like Jira Cloud, Verkada, Datto, AutoTask.
- Manage and support POTS conversions, broadband/fiber/ISP transfers and installations, and telecom infrastructure improvements.
IT Procurement, Asset Management & Cost Control
- Full ownership of hardware asset management across the organization, including tracking of new hardware and dispositioning of retired hardware.
- Develop and enforce a standardized IT procurement model, ensuring consistency in device purchasing, cost control, and lifecycle management.
- Track licensing and propose cost-saving opportunities by optimizing existing software and service agreements.
- Provide recommendations on replacement budgeting and standard device specs to align IT investments with business needs.
IT Governance & Compliance
- Ensure compliance with applicable security requirements, regulations, and configuration management guidelines.
- Expand and manage IAM & SCIM integrations to enforce structured identity governance.
- Audit all active IT applications across the organization, ensuring proper authentication methods (SSO, MFA, Conditional Access).
- Assist with the development and enforcement of data governance policies, data retention strategies, and structured IT execution processes to establish a foundation for IT system governance.
IT Support, Vendor Management & Business Liaison
- Serve as L2 escalation point for Helpdesk Support and provide subject matter expertise.
- Support and manage VoIP services and network services, acting as a liaison with vendors for troubleshooting and escalations.
- Assist in developing structured network troubleshooting processes for business locations.
- Collaborate with department leaders and help evaluate IT-related vendor SOWs and security risks when external solutions are being considered.
5. IT Strategy, Project Execution & Documentation
- Plans, executes, and manages project implementation and rollouts of software and hardware according to timeline and budget.
- Provides project roadmaps, milestone updates, and collects stakeholder feedback for continuous improvement.
- Executes and delivers project summaries for each completed project, identifying successes, areas for improvement, and lessons learned.
- Own and improve Jira Service Management, ensuring proper workflows, reporting, and usability for IT operations.
- Develop, improve, and maintain IT documentation, playbooks, and knowledge bases, ensuring that technical and procedural documentation remains up to date.
6. IT Onboarding & Offboarding & Acquisitions/Dispositions
- Manage and continuously improve user onboarding/offboarding processes, ensuring efficient and secure access provisioning and deprovisioning.
- Work with HR and department leaders to align IT onboarding with operational and security requirements.
- Support business users who own/manage IT applications, guiding them on IAM and security best practices.
- Manage the acquisition process of new office locations from IT perspective, providing due diligence reporting/recommendations, infrastructure and service installations, and facilitating the transition of services for dispositions.
Qualifications
REQUIRED SKILLS / ABILITIES
The individual must possess the following knowledge, skills and abilities and be able to explain and demonstrate that they are able to perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation, using some other combination of knowledge, skills, and abilities:
- 3 years of experience in a Systems Administrator role or similar.
- Experience in managing local and cloud Microsoft/Office 365 (M365) and Azure environments.
- Expertise in Microsoft Windows, Office 365, Entra, Exchange, SharePoint, and Microsoft Teams.
- Strong understanding of identity and access management (IAM), security policies, and endpoint configurations.
- Proficiency in automation and scripting (PowerShell preferred) to optimize system performance.
- Experience in vendor relationship management, MSP oversight, and IT service contracts.
- Strong project management skills, with the ability to multi-task, manage multiple projects, and meet deadlines.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to work cross-functionally and explain IT concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
- Jira Service Management experience preferred to track and improve IT workflows.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field is preferred, or equivalent work experience.
- Relevant certifications such as ITIL, CompTIA A , Sec , Net , CCNA, Microsoft Certified Azure Administrator or equivalent preferred.
