Summary
We are looking for passionate and creative early childhood educators to join our teaching community for the 2025-2026 school year ! 2nd Pres believes learning starts with safe and healthy relationships between teachers and children. From there, our curriculum is a balance of supporting developmental milestones and supporting children's interests through hands-on, experiential learning. We serve children 6 weeks through kindergarten and utilize our beautiful building and outdoor campus for all ages.
The Co-teacher is responsible for developing a cohesive teaching team, coordinating the curriculum, and managing the day-to-day operational activities of the classroom. Co-teachers must understand children's cognitive, social, emotional and physical development in order to ensure a safe and stimulating classroom environment where children are actively engaged and encouraged to succeed. Co-teachers must be skilled in communicating with both children and adults in order to meet the needs of the children, effectively guide teacher assistants, and resolve parental concerns.
2nd Pres. Weekday School values staff for their wonder and curiosity, their skill and knowledge, and their commitment to families. We are seeking reflective co-teachers for the 2024-2025 school year for our classrooms, as well as a position in our Extended Day program. We offer co-teaching positions to candidates with classroom experience, mentorship positions for those excited to get started in the early childhood education field, and Extended Day positions for those interested in our Early Morning, Lunch Bunch or After Care times.
This is a Co-Teaching position from 8 : 45-3 : 15. Our program runs from the end of August through May, and we follow a traditional school calendar including Christmas and Spring break. Our staff and faculty receive a paycheck year-round.
Duties
- In weekly planning sessions coordinate and implement educational curriculum by developing classroom activities based on developmentally appropriate practices and early learning standards with your Co-Teacher.
- Lead by example; encourage teaching team success through modeling and coaching.
- Plan individual and group age-appropriate activities to actively engage children and encourage social, cognitive and emotional growth.
- Maintain frequent communications with parents through informal discussions, progress reports, parent night events and parent-teacher conferences.
- Ensure all center policies and state regulations are met.
- Ensure a healthy classroom environment - including maintaining appropriate hygiene and cleanliness standards and safety and security of children.
- Maintain accurate records, forms and files.
- Maintain a personal professional development plan to ensure continuous quality improvement.
