Responsibilities
- Lead the planning, programming, and design of various laboratory types, ensuring efficient and functional layouts.
- Conduct and participate in client and stakeholder meetings to assess needs and develop comprehensive laboratory planning documentation. Prepare space and functional programs tailored to lab environments.
- Leverage expertise in laboratory systems, furniture, and equipment to assist clients in selecting and positioning equipment that optimizes research spaces.
- Create detailed programming and planning documents, including functional models, staffing structures, departmental relationships, and layout designs for client presentations. Offer innovative and practical design solutions.
- Oversee quality control for both individual and team outputs, ensuring high standards in all project stages. Support the initial coordination of team members and consultants.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver projects on time and within budget, maintaining project goals and timelines.
- Apply sustainable design principles to all planning and design decisions, ensuring eco-friendly and energy-efficient solutions.
Qualifications
- Associate degree in Architecture, Engineering, Planning, or related fields.
- 7 years of recent experience in science planning, with expertise in master planning, programming, and designing complex laboratory environments.
- Experience in science and technology facilities, particularly for academic, bio-pharmaceutical, government, or industrial applications.
- Experience in working with multiple clients is a plus.
- Solid understanding of laboratory-specific codes, standards, and guidelines, including IBC, ADA, ANSI, NFPA, NSF, cGMP, cGLP, and local regulations.
- Proficient in Revit for drafting and design purposes
