Title: Staff Accountant
Reports to: Controller

Position Summary:
The primary duties of this position consist of processing accounts payable and assisting the monthly financial preparation. The candidate must be project oriented, self-motivated and sensitive to deadlines.
Duties / Responsibilities:
- Maintain a detailed understanding of the AP Sub-Ledger and the General Ledger
- Process land banking monthly journal entries
- Assist in land banking lot reconciliations, including recommending takedowns
- Process accounts payable and all monthly entries for one Joint Venture
- Maintain details need for construction loans associated with Joint Ventures
- Assist with other Joint Venture financials as needed
- Assist in balance sheet and asset management reconciliations monthly
- All other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in accounting or equivalent experience required; combination of education and accounting experience may be accepted in lieu of degree.
- 3 years of Accounting experience preferred
- Must be local to Birmingham
- Positive attitude
- Attention to detail, organization, and accuracy.
- Ability to work with multiple deadlines in a fast-paced setting.
- Ability to multitask.
Physical Demands:
- Must be able to consistently operate a computer and other office productivity machinery such as telephone, calculator, copy machine, computer printer, etc.
- Must be able to communicate with others via phone, email, and in person. Must be able to exchange accurate information with others.
- Constantly works in an indoor, temperature-controlled, sealed-window office environment.
- Work primarily involves sitting / standing.
Travel Requirements:
- Occasional travel to other divisional locations.
