Clinical R&D Engineer Co-op – Structural Heart
Plymouth, MN

· Co-op—Typically a 6- to 8-month, 2 semester, full-time assignment
· Each year, Abbott has Co-ops on assignment at multiple business locations
· The majority of Co-ops have an Engineering focus

Responsibilities
Utilize multidisciplinary engineering knowledge to design and develop innovative new products in the dynamic structural heart space where Abbott is a leading provider of solutions.
Understands user needs and aids in setting appropriate requirements to capture those needs.
Evaluates prototypes formally and informally through structured and ad hoc testing. Test aspects of new projects or sub-systems to evaluate prototypes and validate output to meet intended use requirements.
Evaluates customer satisfaction and device performance through end user testing (simulated use, pre-clinical, and/ or usability), analysis and studies.
Evaluates the system user interface (device controls, IFU, training, etc.) formally and informally through structured and ad hoc testing. Tests aspects of the system user interface to evaluate prototype usability with end users and validate user interface is safe and effective.
Provides input into the development of clinical system validation plans and the conduct of those tests.
Maintains detailed documentation throughout all phases of research and development.
Experience(s), education and knowledge:
· Eligible students must be currently enrolled in the school year of the assignment and the semester following their assignment.
· Candidates must be currently enrolled at an accredited undergraduate or graduate engineering program
· GPA of 3.0 or greater
· Strong analytical, problem solving and communication skills
· Ability to learn quickly and work independently with minimal direct supervision
· Candidate must be available to work full-time (40 hours/week) during the 6 month Co-op session
· Students must be able to work in the US without requiring sponsorship
Preferred qualifications and education:
· Rising juniors or graduate students preferred.
The base pay for this position is
$16.45 – $32.85/hourIn specific locations, the pay range may vary from the range posted.
