About the opportunity :
This position is responsible for assessing, diagnosing, and treating mental and physical aspects of psychological problems for patients seeking psychiatric help. Conducts thorough psychiatric evaluations, develops treatment plans, prescribes medication, and evaluates treatment results on patients. Serves as primary psychiatric consultant for a variety of behavioral health special projects including the inpatient electronic health record (EHR) build, inpatient policy and procedure development, developing inpatient reporting and quality structure, etc. This is a five-day per week position. This position will maintain a minimum of 28 billable clinical hours with an additional 4-6 hours dedicated to special projects. The amount of time dedicated to special projects will vary based on project need. In the event that there is a reduction in special project needs, there will be an increase in dedicated clinical hours.
What you will do :
- Evaluates patients by interviewing patient, family, and other necessary persons; conducting physical examinations; observing behaviors; reviewing medical history and related documents; selecting, administering, and interpreting psychological tests; and ordering laboratory tests and evaluating results.
- Develops and delivers comprehensive clinical programming and / or curriculum and ensures all service delivery is evidence-based and aligned with all state, local, federal, and regulatory requirements. This includes treating patients by utilizing psychotherapeutic methods and medications; discussing progress toward goals with patients; providing instructions; and monitoring the effect of medications.
- Prescribes medication that can alter chemical imbalances affecting the patient’s state of mind and behavior.
- Provides clinical training to staff members on various medical and behavioral health subjects to include medication management and psychiatric evaluations.
- Serves as a liaison with other psychiatric staff and consultants and provides coverage for those persons.
- Collaborates with external behavioral health support entities for patient care.
- Maintains a comprehensive caseload that is based on community need and patient population need, with services delivered across all Outpatient Clinics.
- Maintains excellence in clinical documentation in alignment with local, internal, state, federal, and regulatory standards and compliance.
- Serves as the psychiatric resource for special projects assigned by the Senior Director of Behavioral Health.

- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Must be HIPAA compliant.
