Job Title: Microsoft SQL Administrator/Systems Engineer

Position Summary:
Are you skilled at analyzing complex systems for efficiencies? The SQL Database Administrator/Systems Engineer is responsible for the hands-on administration, tuning, and support of our Microsoft SQL database systems and other in-production databases. This is a full-time, direct hire (W2) position. The role involves implementing applications that interface with core system of record, managing cross-platform file transfers, security, and ensuring smooth communication between IT and data management groups. Occasional travel and evening/weekend hours will be required to support operations when needed.
Key Responsibilities:
· Monitor, support, and enhance productivity for in-house Databases running on Microsoft platforms.
· Design, plan and implement enterprise-wide system solutions in a Microsoft Windows Server and VMware environment.
· Perform system and database upgrades and conversions as necessary.
· Manage database history files to support application development and testing.
· Participate in system conversion activities using Veeam backup/restore and file transfer platforms.
· Install, configure, and manage multiple instances of Microsoft SQL Server
· Work closely with developers and engineers to improve application performance and solve database-related issues
- Perform regular database audits to identify any irregularities or potential security breaches
- Train and support database users and developers, and provide technical support for SQL Server database environments
· Administer interface products on multiple operating system platforms.
· Develop and implement database security policies to protect sensitive data
· Integrate and update systems in Development and Test environments.
· Troubleshoot issues related to business applications, hardware, and software solutions.
· Assist data management group with performance analysis, security, monitoring, and upgrades of Microsoft and VMware environments.
· Contribute to disaster recovery/business continuity planning and testing with replicated production data.
· Assist with server, storage provisioning and administration.
Skills and Qualifications:
· Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or related field, or 4 years of experience as a Database Administrator.
· Broad system administration background with strong Microsoft and VMWare skills; familiarity with Windows environments.
· Proficiency in TCP-IP, DNS, and networking, including knowledge of SSH certificates, encryption protocols (GPG, PGP, FIPS 140-2, AES), and file transfer protocols (SFTP, SCP, FTPS, AS2, HTTPS, RSYNC).
· Proven project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
· Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
· Experience with client/server technology, preferably in a Microsoft and VMWare environment.

Pay: $75,000.00 - $85,000.00 per year
