JOB SUMMARY:

Under the general direction of the Center Manager, maintains 24-hour responsibility and accountability for leadership and supervision of a designated care unit which promotes quality care and cost effectiveness use of resources. Participates in the direct patient care of patients. Demonstrates a commitment to professional accountability and growth to maintain and expand knowledge and skill. Contributes to the achievement of the mission and philosophy of the Organization. Contributes to the effective operations of the Organization by demonstrating dependability in job performance. Exhibits the F.I.R.S.T. values (Friendliness, Innovation, Respect, Service, and Trust).

  • Performing complete physical examinations of each patient.
  • Interpreting test results (arterial duplex, venous duplex, walking segmental, CTAs and other imaging) to help with next step treatment plan recommendations.
  • Providing advances levels of patient care, including diagnoses, treatment and management of illness/injuries.
  • Performing radiologic procedures (within scope of practice): Potential to learn paracentesis and thoracentesis in the clinic setting.
  • Performs other duties assigned by EMHR from time to time that are commensurate with professional services normally and customarily performed by a Physician Extender.

WORKING CONDITIONS, HAZARDS AND PHYSICAL EFFORT:

Works in well lighted, ventilated, and air conditioned area. Long periods in a stationary position and moving around the unit are required. There are risks to exposure to blood, body fluids and tissue, diseases, infections, and physical strains. Must be able to move or position 25 lbs. independently.

CONTACTS WITH OTHERS:

Patients, family members and significant others, physicians and Associates, other healthcare providers, community resource personnel, administrative staff and Medical Center support services.

EQUIPMENT USED/SPECIAL SKILLS REQUIRED:

Must be able to read, write, and speak English.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS OR EQUIVALENTS:

Education: Completion of an accredited Nurse Practitioner Program and Licensure in the State of Kentucky.

Experience: Minimal four (4) years of clinical expertise preferred.

LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS, AND/OR REGISTRATIONS:

Current Licensure and Certification as APRN in the Commonwealth of Kentucky with maintenance of DEA and CAPA-NS or CAPA-CS as regulated by the Kentucky Board of Nursing (KBN) based on APRN's scope of practice. Advanced Life Support Certifications as indicated for clinician's area of practice.
