General Summary:
Under close supervision, alternates duties associated with monitoring and interpreting normal and abnormal ECG rhythms. Notifies the appropriate personnel in case of emergency and maintains records associated with arrhythmia monitoring for all patient who are admitted, discharged or transferred.
UNIT DESCRIPTION: 24 bed Medical telemetry unit, all of our patients have cardiac monitoring, we see a wide variety of medical patients with multiple comorbidities such as: pneumonia, COPD, sepsis, GI, renal failure-acute and chronic, CHF, cardiac pt’s with diagnostic procedures or medical management only, Afib, wound care, a few surgical and neuro pt’s.
We have a high majority of geriatric pt. population with a high case mix. The only cardiac drip we run is Cardizem for Atrial fibrillation-which we see a lot of. We specialize in Peritoneal Dialysis and our nurses are specially trained for this.
Shift: Midnight 7:00pm to 7:30am
EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION:
- High School Diploma or G.E.D.
- Completion of a 40-hour cardiac interpretive training course or CAT experience, preferred.
