Middle School Science Teacher

Our client is seeking an experienced Middle School Science Teacher who thrives in an innovative, collaborative, and student-centered environment. This position will begin on January 1, 2025, and extend through the remainder of the 2024–2025 school year. Candidates are encouraged to apply for the permanent role for the 2025–2026 academic year.
Key Responsibilities:
- Classroom Instruction: Teach seventh and eighth grade science, incorporating engineering principles, project-based learning, and design thinking.
- Curriculum Development: Plan, prepare, and deliver dynamic lesson plans that accommodate diverse learning styles, understanding of modifications, and enrichment opportunities.
- Student Engagement: Use assessments and differentiated instruction to meet individual student needs, ensuring an inclusive learning environment for a range of skill levels and backgrounds.
- Technology Integration: Employ technology for attendance, grading, parent and student communication, and as a dynamic teaching tool.
- Experiential Learning: Plan a science-focused, week-long overnight trip.
- Community Involvement: Coordinate the school’s participation in the California State Science Fair and contribute to the larger school community beyond the classroom.
Qualifications:
- Education: BA or MA in Education with a math, science, or engineering endorsement; or a BS or MS in Science, Mathematics, or Engineering plus a valid teaching credential.
- Experience: Minimum of 3 years of Middle School and/or High School teaching experience preferred.
- Subject Expertise: Strong background in integrated middle school science, including Earth Science, the scientific method, data analysis, and inquiry-based learning.
- Instructional Skills: Experience designing standards-based, project-based STEM learning experiences.
- Differentiation: Demonstrated skill in adapting instruction to meet varied student needs, learning styles, and motivation levels.
- Methodology: Comfort blending traditional and innovative teaching methodologies to create an engaging and effective curriculum.
- Technology Proficiency: Familiarity with classroom tech tools (iPads, educational software) and the ability to integrate them into the curriculum.
- Professional Growth: Dedication to continuous learning, professional development, and collegial collaboration.
- Classroom Management: Proven ability to maintain a structured, positive, and productive classroom environment.
Work Schedule & Additional Expectations:
- On-Campus Hours: Monday–Thursday: 7:45 AM–4:00 PM; Friday: 7:45 AM–3:00 PM
- Community Engagement: Participate in morning drop-off, lunch, recess, and dismissal supervision; attend weekly faculty meetings; and cover substitute duties as requested.
- Events & Activities: Attend staff orientation, Back to School Night, the beginning-of-year Middle School trip, Winter Exhibition, Taste of Middle School, Student Learning Conferences (twice annually), Professional Development Days, and graduation.
- Student Interaction: Supervise and chaperone activities outside regular school hours as needed.
Compensation:
Annual salary of $65,000 – $95,000, prorated based on start date. The exact salary within this range will be determined by years of experience and educational background, aligned with our client’s established salary criteria.
