We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Patient Care Attendant (PCA) to provide quality patient care in a healthcare setting. This is an 8-week contract position with a shift from 03:00 PM to 11:00 PM. The ideal candidate will assist with the daily activities of patients and ensure that they receive the highest level of care and comfort during their stay.
Key Responsibilities:
- Direct Patient Care:
- Assist patients with daily living activities, including bathing, dressing, grooming, and eating.
- Aid patients in transferring, walking, and repositioning to ensure comfort and safety.
- Monitor and assist patients with mobility needs.
- Vital Signs and Monitoring:
- Take and record vital signs, including blood pressure, pulse, temperature, and respiration.
- Report any abnormal vital signs or changes in patient condition to the nursing staff.
- Patient Comfort and Support:
- Provide comfort and companionship to patients.
- Respond to patient requests and concerns promptly and with compassion.
- Assist with patient positioning for comfort, safety, and well-being.
- Hygiene and Cleanliness:
- Help patients with personal hygiene tasks such as toileting and changing linens.
- Ensure the cleanliness of patient rooms and equipment.
- Documentation:
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of patient care, including activities and observations.
- Record intake and output, as well as any other relevant information.
- Collaborative Teamwork:
- Work closely with nursing staff, physicians, and other healthcare providers to ensure the best possible care for patients.
- Assist with admissions, transfers, and discharges as needed.
- Safety and Infection Control:
- Follow infection control protocols and safety guidelines.
- Ensure all patient care equipment is properly cleaned and sanitized.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent (required).
- Previous experience in a healthcare or patient care setting is preferred but not mandatory.
- Ability to provide compassionate, patient-centered care.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with patients and healthcare teams.
- Basic knowledge of infection control procedures.
- Physical ability to assist patients with mobility and perform tasks as needed.
Working Conditions:
- Contract position for 8 weeks.
- Evening shift: 03:00 PM to 11:00 PM.
- Must be able to work weekends and holidays as required.
- Physical demands may include lifting, standing, and walking for extended periods.
