Position Overview:
The Direct Support Professional (DSP) is a critical role within 360 Total Care, dedicated to supporting the daily and comprehensive needs of individuals with developmental disabilities. This position operates in a residential setting, facilitating community integration and ensuring all care provided aligns with the Ohio Department of Developmental Disabilities' regulations. DSPs are committed to enhancing client independence and quality of life while adhering to the mission and values of 360 Total Care.
Key Responsibilities:
Client Support and Care:
- Assist clients with daily living activities such as bathing, dressing, meal preparation, and medication administration.
- Support clients in achieving personal goals as outlined in their Individual Service Plans (ISP).
- Foster a nurturing and supportive environment within the residential setting and in community outings.
Community Integration and Transportation:
- Provide transportation for clients to appointments and community activities, maintaining a valid driver’s license and adherence to vehicle safety protocols.
- Actively support clients' participation in community events to enhance social inclusion.
ISP Compliance and Team Collaboration:
- Adhere to all guidelines and objectives specified in each client’s ISP.
- Attend ISP training sessions and meetings with the individual support team.
- Collaborate with team members to ensure cohesive client care and service delivery.
Documentation, Reporting, and Compliance:
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation of client progress, health, and activities using the organization’s electronic system.
- Participate in internal evaluations and discuss outcomes with the support team to enhance service delivery.
Medication and Health Management:
- Manage and administer medications accurately, ensuring conformity with physician orders and monthly reviews.
- Coordinate with pharmacies and attend medical appointments as required, completing relevant documentation.
Hygiene and Environmental Maintenance:
- Ensure high standards of client hygiene and maintain cleanliness in residential settings.
Electronic Visit Verification (EVV) and Punctuality:
- Comply with EVV training and procedures, if applicable.
- Demonstrate professionalism by maintaining punctuality and reliability in clocking in and out.
Required Qualifications:
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent; further education in healthcare or social services preferred.
- Experience: Prior experience in a caregiving or residential support role, especially in a developmental disability setting.
- Certifications: Valid driver’s license; CPR and First Aid certification preferred.
- Skills: Excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills; a compassionate approach and patience.
Physical and Mental Demands:
- Ability to perform physical tasks required for client care and household maintenance.
- Emotional resilience to handle potentially challenging situations.
Work Environment:
- The role involves working in residential settings and participating in community activities, requiring flexible hours and travel.
