Firmware Engineer

This individual will work with a small, high-performance team to develop new products and technology for solar energy production. This is a full-time, direct hire, permanent position which requires onsite presence five days per week (as opposed to remote or hybrid).

Focus on design requirements, performance improvement, reliability, manufacturability, low cost, and project completion. A high-paced product development environment within a financially and commercially strong manufacturing organization.

Requirements

• BS Computer Engineering, Computer Science or equivalent.
• 5 years experience of professional firmware development in C/C , Python and/or another systems programming language.
• Experience with writing unit, integration and/or system level tests.
• Experience with STM32 and Nordic microcontrollers.
• Experience with sub-GHz wireless communication including LoRa.
• Excellent working knowledge and hands-on experience with Real-Time Operating Systems (RTOS).
• Communication protocols including UDP, TCP/IP, Modbus, SFTP, IMAP, Ethernet, IoT protocols and standards.
• Production level firmware development experience for microcontrollers, wireless communications devices, battery management, machine controls, etc.
• Proven ability to document code cleanly.
• Proficiency with software configuration and management tools, defect tracking tools and peer review.
• Knowledge of best practices for full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing and operation.
• Proven ability to work with complex algorithms and data structures, write code from the ground up, and test and improve existing code.
• C, C , Python, Java, assembly language.
• Application architecture and design patterns.
• Graphical User Interfaces.

Preferred Candidates will have

• MS in Computer Engineering.
• Strong firmware development experience.
• Strong product development experience with market delivery.
• Experience in development of distributed/scalable systems.
• Knowledge of application programming interface (API).
• Experience with digital control systems.
• Knowledge of quality and reliability engineering principles.
