Position Summary
The Director of Quality is responsible for leading and managing the quality assurance processes to ensure that our manufacturing operations consistently produce high-quality products. This role involves overseeing quality control procedures, implementing quality management systems, driving continuous improvement initiatives to meet customer expectations and fostering collaboration across plants to standardize and share best practices to meet customer expectations and regulatory standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and maintain quality assurance policies and procedures.
- Lead the quality assurance team and provide direction, training, and support.
- Oversee the inspection and testing of raw materials, in-process products, and finished goods.
- Ensure compliance with quality standards and regulatory requirements.
- Identify areas for improvement and implement lean manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance product quality and operational efficiency.
- Evaluate and monitor supplier performance to ensure the quality of raw materials and components.
- Conduct supplier audits and manage supplier quality issues.
- Address customer complaints and non-conformities effectively and promptly.
- Collaborate with customer service and production teams to ensure customer satisfaction.
- Maintain accurate quality records and documentation.
- Prepare and present quality performance reports to senior management.
- Ensure compliance with industry standards, certifications, and regulatory requirements.
- Lead internal and external quality audits and inspections.
- Develop and mentor quality team members to build a high-performing quality assurance team.
- Promote a culture of quality and continuous improvement within the organization.
- Identify potential quality risks and implement mitigation strategies.
- Conduct root cause analysis and implement corrective and preventive actions.
- Lead efforts to standardize quality processes, tools, and metrics across all plants.
- Facilitate knowledge-sharing initiatives to promote the adaptation of best practices across locations.
- Collaborate with plant quality managers to identify and implement cross-plant improvement opportunities.
- Monitor and benchmark quality performance across plants, ensuring alignment with corporate standards and goals.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Quality Management, Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in a quality management role within a manufacturing environment.
- Certified Quality Manager (CQM), Six Sigma Green/Black Belt, or similar certification
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and leadership abilities.
- Proficiency in quality management software and tools.
- Proven track record of implementing successful quality improvement projects. (Preferred)
- Experience with ISO 9001, Lean Manufacturing, and Six Sigma methodologies. (Preferred)
- Managing quality systems across multiple sites. (Preferred)
- Attention to detail and a strong focus on quality.
