Purpose of the Role:
The Shipping Clerk plays a vital role in facilitating the smooth and efficient movement of goods within the plant. The Shipping Clerk is responsible for preparing outgoing shipments and receiving incoming shipments. Duties include organizing inventory, reviewing incoming and outgoing shipment schedules to maintain productive operations and documenting damages to inventory. Verifying orders for accuracy, packing items securely for transit, maintaining records for all incoming and outgoing shipments. Auditing and identifying discrepancies of material.
In this position, you will…
- Perform regular audits of inventory levels, stock movements, and operational processes to ensure accuracy and compliance with established procedures
- Verify inventory records against physical stock on hand, investigating and resolving any discrepancies promptly
- Verify orders for accuracy and completeness before shipment, including quantities, item numbers, and addresses.
- Work together with warehouse management to address audit findings and implement corrective actions as needed
- Prepare shipping documents, including bills of lading, packing lists, and shipping labels, ensuring accuracy and compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Utilize technology and software systems to streamline audit processes
- Prepare shipping packets to include: BOL, pick list, custom documents
- Ensure processes are followed to ensure accuracy and that quality standards are met
- Maintain shipping and receiving logs and necessary forms for accurate loading
- Maintain FedEx/UPS, parts receiving area
- Notify employees of receipt of packages when they arrive
- Identify non-conformances
- Provide training and guidance to warehouse personnel on proper inventory handling procedures
- Monitor quality of out-going shipments
- Resolve discrepancies or escalate according to process
- Work overtime and weekends
- Other responsibilities as assigned
- Follow health and safety policies that comply with company and OSHA regulations
The knowledge, skills, and abilities you will bring…
- Experience in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, or related field preferred
- Must be able to pass a color perception test, as this position demands close visual color inspections and the ability to make critical color judgment decisions.
- Knowledge of warehouse safety regulations, quality standards, and industry best practices
- Working knowledge of Microsoft applications: Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint. Experience with SAP is desired.
- Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Requires strong attention to detail, analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to identify and resolve discrepancies
- Strong written and oral communication skills are required.
- Able to comprehend product specifications, technical documents, and production methods as they relate to shipping, receiving, stock rooms, BOLs, and material tags.
- Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and requirements as needed
- Wearing of high-visibility clothing, safety shoes, eye protection, and other PPE are required.
- Willingness to continually learn and improve skills in warehouse auditing and inventory management practices.
- Must be capable of lifting 50 lbs. on a regular basis.
