Role Overview: Director, Case Development
The Director, Case Development role develops learning materials for the 3DE model to promote an inclusive and competency-based experience in 3DE classrooms. In this role, the Director, Case Development works closely with the case coordinator, curriculum designers, and subject matter experts to develop co-authored case studies and case challenges that meet competency development objectives and fit the topic of each instructional unit. The Director, Case Development role focuses on writing, revising, editing, and publishing learning materials for teachers and learners in our growing network that reflect the authentic challenges facing industries today.
Core Responsibilities
- Case Writing & Editing
- Develops and adapts engaging, grade-appropriate learning materials for 3DE cases, aligning with real-world partner issues and competency frameworks for 9th- through 11th-grade students.
- Works collaboratively with the case coordinator and content development team to create, edit, and refine case content and supporting learning materials, incorporating feedback from Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) and ensuring materials are suitable for student inquiry and participation.
- Uses appropriate technology to source diverse resources (press releases, articles, graphics, etc.) and write narratives, assignments, and epilogues that simplify complex concepts and maintain student interest while aligning with case topics and industry relevance.
- Ensures cases include required elements, including student-friendly vocabulary, while revising materials in response to ongoing review and feedback.
- Content Publishing & Quality Assurance
- Supports the development of efficient processes, including curriculum templates and automation, and promotes continuous improvement of materials based on feedback from 3DE staff, educators, and partners.
- Regularly reviews, updates, and refreshes learning materials to address content gaps, to comply with regulation and local requirements, and to meet established design standards, ensuring consistency in branding, tone, and overall quality.
- Coordinates with the copy editor to ensure high-quality proofreading, editing, and document management for case challenges, studies, and competency development resources before publishing in the Learning Management System (LMS).
- Assists in updating, packaging, and publishing approved content in the LMS and collaborates with staff members as appropriate to ensure effective implementation.
Desired Experience
- Education
- Bachelor's degree in English, journalism, education, or a related field or commensurate work experience required; master's degree in K-12 Curriculum & Instruction or a related field preferred.
- Curriculum & Instructional Design Experience
- 3 years of demonstrated experience in the design and development of district- or network-wide curriculum or curriculum resources; K-12 Teaching experience or nonprofit experience a plus.
- Experience in the design and implementation of Project-Based Learning.
- Working knowledge of topic-based writing, leveling of texts, and business acumen.
- Experience teaching or writing content for STEM or CTE subjects preferred.
- Quality Assurance
- Understanding of document control and maintaining multiple versions of content.
- Solid organizational skills, including attention to detail even with competing priorities.
- Ability to adhere to policies protecting confidential information.
- Self-Directed Project Management
- Demonstrates strong follow-through with the ability to independently complete projects according to a defined plan.
- Ability to work on multiple projects in different stages with minimal oversight while meeting deadlines.
- Strong cross-group collaboration skills and the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with team members to accomplish project goals.
- Proficient in the Use of Technology & Written/Verbal Communication
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, Google Suite, Learning Management Systems, etc.
- Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing with impact, with experience adapting style based on the needs and perspectives of audiences.
Job Details
- Hiring for an Immediate Start
- Location: Atlanta, Georgia preferred, though not required.
- Employment Type: Remote with some travel required; Full-Time.
- Salary Range: $80,000 - $85,000; commensurate with experience
- Reports To: National Director, Instructional Design.
