Description:
Opportunity for a full-time Maintenance Technician focused on multiple apartment buildings in the heart of Chicago's Hyde Park and South Loop neighborhoods. With the primary responsibility of general property level and building system maintenance, this position reports to the Property Manager and works directly with onsite team members to ensure the success of the property’s overall performance and helping deliver exceptional living experiences to community residents.
Position requires ability to transverse the property on foot, climb, lift up to 35 pounds, work on a ladder or elevated platform, and use cleaning and painting supplies. Must be able to communicate, orally and in writing, with residential tenants, supervisors and co-workers. Typical full-time schedules will be Tuesday-Saturday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM, but may require occasional flexibility to work weekends and non-routine work hours in the event of urgent situations.
Your Mission
- Ensure building(s) and premises are always maintained in pristine condition and reports needed repairs, safety hazards and conditions that could require the work of outside vendors.
- Manage building level work order assignments for in unit and other property level repair and maintenance work.
- Conduct inspections of building systems (HVAC, electrical, plumbing, etc.) and recommend, coordinate and assist with repairs as needed.
- Assess property level issues and needs and proactively work with the team to address, as well as suggest modifications or enhancements.
- Coordinate with internal team and outside vendors to ensure successful completion of all maintenance and capital projects.
- Must be willing and able to perform all property maintenance tasks as needed, including, but not limited to: basic plumbing and electrical, drywall repair, painting, appliance repair and maintenance, groundskeeping and snow removal, cleaning, trash removal, and provide strong customer service to residents.
Your Track Record
- Ideal candidate will possess 2-3 years of relevant work experience
- EPA Universal Certification required
- Strong customer service mindset and the ability to effectively collaborate with a diverse, multi-functional team
- Familiarity with property level work order management systems and processes.
- Working knowledge of building and mechanical systems.
- Applicable trade certifications and licenses preferred.
- Valid Driver's license required
- Ability to operate hand and power tools, lifts, scaffolding, and digital meters
