As an Advanced Research Specialist you will have the opportunity to tap into your curiosity and collaborate with some of the most innovative people around the world. Here, you will make an impact by :
Lead the development of a fundamental understanding of the mechanical behavior of 3M materials and products.
Establish and set the strategy for cross-functional team of application engineers, scientists, and process engineers to enable next-generation products via MD / ML modeling and simulation
Develop programs and strategy around modeling of soft materials to guide formulators and engineers
Lead simulation engagements with customers
Understand, develop, and guide the establishment of new computational tools and systems.
Initiate and contribute to the analysis and development of intellectual property
Your Skills and Expertise
To set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M requires (at a minimum) the following qualifications :
Ph.D. degree (completed and verified prior to start) from an accredited institution
Five (5) years of experience in deformable body mechanics, analysis, and simulation OR expertise in Finite Element Analysis / Multiphysics modeling
Three (3) years of experience in Engineering, Materials Science, Physics, or Chemistry
Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include :
Proficiency in molecular dynamics simulations and computational chemistry
Experience with python or another programming language
Understanding of HPC environment
Success in working on global teams, close collaboration with customers and capability to both lead and be a member of high-performance teams.
Fundamental understanding of soft matter physics and mechanical behavior and polymer synthesis / structure
Work location : Hybrid Eligible (Job Duties allow for some remote work but require travel to 3M Center at least 3 days per week)
