The Impact You’ll Make in this Role

The person hired for the position of Engineering Manager within the Engineering Systems and Technology organization will manage a group of Controls and Machine Design engineers and staff in support of several engineering groups. The position will work closely with other Engineering and Technology Managers to build and maintain strong relationships, contribute to the development of strategic and operational plans for the organization, maintain and advance the technical competency of the group, participate on engineering committees and teams, and provide leadership, coaching and direction to all direct reports.

• Providing engineering resources and support for manufacturing, laboratory, and other areas of responsibility
• Responsible for staffing, workload forecasting, and succession planning within the group
• Work closely with the engineering team to ensure alignment with project objectives
• Contributing to the development of corporate engineering resources and technical expertise through the recruiting, hiring, and ongoing training of group personnel
• Managing the creation, development, and application of technology to meet future business needs
• Identifying and addressing gaps in technical expertise
• Playing a key role in generating and maintaining 3M's intellectual property
• Providing direct supervision to assigned employees through leadership, coaching, training and development, allocating work assignments, review of progress in achieving objectives, managing employee compensation, performance appraisals, diversity, disability, all relevant employee data, etc.
  
  
  

Your Skills And Expertise

To set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M is looking for candidates who must have the following qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in an engineering or related discipline (completed and verified prior to start)
• Eight (8) years of experience working in a technical, manufacturing, and/or engineering environment in a private, public, government or military environment
• Five (5) years of experience managing technical individuals in a manufacturing or engineering environment
  
  
  

Work location: Maplewood, MN

Hybrid Eligible - Expectation to be in the office 3 days a week

Travel: May include up to 20% domestic/international

Relocation Assistance: May be authorized

Must be legally authorized to work in country of employment without sponsorship for employment visa status (e.g., H1B status).

Responsibilities of this position may include direct and/or indirect physical or logical access to information, systems, technologies subjected to the regulations/compliance with U.S. Export Control Laws.

Applicable to US Applicants Only:The expected compensation range for this position is $164,612 - $201,193, which includes base pay plus variable incentive pay, if eligible. This range represents a good faith estimate for this position.
