Here, you will make an impact by : Developing subject matter expertise in a wide range of accounting topics and providing critical counsel to leaders across all of 3M’s businesses, distilling complex accounting rules down to actionable solutionsConsulting with business and finance leaders (including VP of Technical Accounting, Chief Accounting Officer and Chief Financial Officer) on accounting implications of potential strategies, unusual transactions and eventsManaging complex accounting research projects through to their conclusion, meeting key deadlines, reviewing / writing technical accounting memos, and regularly advising key stakeholders on the critical impacts of each projectLeading implementation and communicating the impact of new accounting standards across 3M (FASB, SEC, AICPA, etc.)Advising on mergers, acquisition, and divestiture diligence, purchase accounting and other matters—as well as participating in numerous other specialty areas such as legal matters, restructurings, and treasuryPartnering with the policy compliance team to drive global compliance with US GAAP and 3M financial policies and ensuring policies are current and relevantAssisting in the external reporting process, including footnote disclosure reviews and ensuring proper cash flow presentationCoordinating with external auditors to drive timely resolution of challenging mattersManaging the Accounting Research teamYour Skills and Expertise  To set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M requires (at a minimum) the following qualifications : Bachelor’s degree or higher (completed and verified prior to start) from an accredited institutionTen (10) years of combined experience in accounting and / or finance in a private, public, government or military environmentAdditional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include : Licensed, active CPAFive (5) years of Big 4 public accounting experienceTen (10) years of relevant financial accounting experience, including providing counsel to stakeholders, resolving complex accounting matters, and team leadershipExcellent communication skills (at all levels in the organization), both written and verbalWork location : Hybrid Eligible (Job Duties allow for some remote work but require travel to 3M Center in Maplewood, Minnesotaat least 3 days per week)Travel : May include up to 10% domestic / internationalRelocation Assistance : Is not authorized.Must be legally authorized to work in country of employment without sponsorship for employment visa status (e.g., H1B status).Supporting Your Well-being3M offers many programs to help you live your best life – both physically and financially.
