We are seeking a strong leader to enhance the capabilities of an accounting team at a large, complex processing business. Lead a team through a department-wide reorganization, optimizing roles, implementing automation, and establishing clear financial processes.
Collaborate closely with the CFO and senior leadership to drive operational improvements, modernize systems, and prepare for an ERP implementation.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Lead the reorganization of the accounting and finance department, working alongside the CFO.
- Develop and mentor the corporate accounting team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and professional development.
- Manage the AP and AR departments, including oversight of vendor management, invoice processing, billing, and collections.
- Oversee month-end and year-end close processes, including monthly preparation and review of financial statements, journal entries, and account reconciliations.
- Liaise with external auditors to discuss year-end closure progress
- Spearhead automation initiatives, reducing reliance on manual processes (e.g., invoicing, order checking, deductions).
- Lead the implementation and maintenance of accounting systems and processes.
- Develop and enforce GAAP-compliant accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls.
- Ensure accurate bank compliance reporting and balance sheet reconciliations.
- Partner with cross-functional teams to support budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis initiatives.
- Prepare and present financial packages and flash reports to senior management and stakeholders.
- Conduct an annual review of the shareholder metrics report, a quarterly preparation of the Board metrics report, and a high-level final review of bank compliance.
Qualifications and Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field. CPA certification is required.
- 10 years of progressive accounting experience, preferably in a food/CPG manufacturing environment
- Experience managing corporate accounting, AR, and AP departments
- Strong proficiency in Excel and working knowledge of GAAP
- Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills
- Experience supporting an ERP implementation is a bonus.
