Laboratory Technician
Philadelphia, PA 19112
1st Shift: 8:00 AM- 4:30 PM - M-F
Pay Rate: $22/hr.
Qualifications:
- A 2-year degree from a college or technical school with at least three years of experience in an industrial laboratory environment, or a 4-year degree in a physical or life science with some level of chemistry or chemical lab experience.
- Good interpersonal and communication skills to be able to work well in both self-managed and team environment
- Able to manage multiple projects simultaneously, meeting established deadlines
- Comfortable with safely working with hazardous materials
- Strong interest in hands-on work to ensure a good understanding of the products
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills
- Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence
- Possess strong computer skills and ability to interpret data and trends
Responsibilities:
- With minimal guidance from supervision and within established procedures, the individual will conduct routine as well as complex research laboratory activities in support of the Company Global Innovation Center. The incumbent will provide support to the Chemists / Engineers in the research and development process. Research may include assistance with information/data management activities and analysis of results.
- Assist in the design of experiments, conduct those experiments independently and collect, summarize, and present the resulting data
- Troubleshoot problems as they arise in the laboratory; collaborate with research investigators when erroneous or unexpected results occur
- Identify and suggest improvements in methods
- Produce research experimental results, or information/data management results, or assemble and configure small/pilot scale equipment and control systems utilizing a variety of techniques
- Document findings and communicating results
- Make suggestions on path forward and contribute to formulating work plans and managing daily workflow
- Inspect and perform routine maintenance on equipment used to conduct experiments at the designated work location
- Maintain appropriate inventory of chemicals and/or supplies necessary for the completion of experiments at work location
- Maintain a safe working environment
- Preparation and evaluation of coating formulations including electro-coat, primer, topcoat and clear coat using mixing equipment and various spray equipment
- Accurately run and record test results for all coatings formulations
- Interpret and communicate test results using computer-based systems
- Document experimental test results using computer programs such as Word, Excel
- Safely handle, categorize, and dispose of chemicals on a routine basis
- Handle multiple tasks under strict time constraints
