Job Summary
The Viral Research Scientist I is responsible for performing basic cell culture techniques, viral propagation, and analytical proof of concept (POC) experiments. This role involves executing in vitro assays to evaluate viral stocks, ensuring the validity of test results, and minimizing repeated work. The scientist will also support the viral research team through data acquisition, reporting, and communication, while maintaining proper documentation and adhering to laboratory safety and regulatory standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Cellular Assays & Cultures:
Plan and execute cellular assays using primary human cells, with experience in 2D and 3D cultures being a plus.
Perform relevant cellular and molecular functional assays (e.g., ELISA, TaqMan qPCR, colorimetric-based assays) and cell-based imaging with minimal supervision.
Research & Literature Reviews:
Conduct literature searches, extract relevant information from published protocols, and implement findings.
Analyze experimental outcomes and propose appropriate follow-up experiments.
Data Communication & Reporting:
Communicate experimental results effectively, both orally and in writing.
Independently complete high-quality work in the laboratory notebook, contribute to protocol writing, and provide input for scientific reports.
Collaboration & Teamwork:
Work collaboratively with team members within the department and participate in cross-departmental project teams when necessary.
Contribute to the delivery of innovative drug concepts for clinical development through teamwork and knowledge sharing.
Data Integrity & Compliance:
Report and treat data with a high level of integrity and ethics.
Ensure compliance with applicable regulations and maintain proper records in accordance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
Required Skills & Qualifications:
Education & Experience:
Bachelor's Degree with 3 years of experience or a Master’s Degree in immunology, molecular biology, biochemistry, or a related field.
