What are the responsibilities and job description for the Security Systems Test Engineer (Cleared) position at 3SI Security Systems?
We are seeking a Security Systems Test Engineer to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for testing Physical Security Information Management (PSIM) software and developing comprehensive test plans, test descriptions, and test reports. Additionally, you will collaborate with design engineers, software developers, and hardware engineers to support PSIM software operations and ensure system integrity.
Primary Responsibilities
- Develop test strategies, including test data approaches, regression testing and automation methodologies to ensure higher quality delivery and test coverage.
- Design, develop, configure, and maintain test frameworks and custom test solutions.
- Test individual frameworks, programs, automation scripts and configurations.
- Debug automation frameworks/scripts and resolve technical issues.
- Document technical solutions within test frameworks and custom test solutions.
- Leverage critical thinking to identify problems and propose effective solutions.
- Determine programming impact on system.
- Modify and develop detailed test scripts, modules, applications, and frameworks with a high level of expertise.
- Work within a development environment to ensure successful software releases.
- Analyze Requirements and Functional Specifications to design, create, and execute test cases and scenarios.
- Provide support to Tier 3 Help Desk Engineers and software developers/engineers when necessary.
- Maintain and update the testing environment, including servers and workstations.
- Perform other duties as needed to support the organization’s mission.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Proficiency in English communication (written and verbal) is required for this role to ensure effective collaboration, accurate documentation, and clearly convey complex concepts.
- Experience in system testing, preferably in security systems or PSIM environments.
- Strong proficiency in manual software testing and troubleshooting.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with meticulous attention to detail.
- Ability to write, clear, concise, and comprehensive test documentation.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Understanding of security systems, including hardware, software, and network components
- Basic knowledge of programming languages.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Experience with test automation scripting or programming (e.g., Python, Java).
- Familiarity with configuration management and issue tracking tools (e.g., JIRA, Git).
Qualifications
- Active Security Clearance (e.g., Top Secret, Secret)
- Bachelor’s degree In Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field
