We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Cybersecurity Specialist to join our proactive and mission-driven team at Fort Belvoir, VA. This role is critical in safeguarding our program office’s cybersecurity frameworks and ensuring robust information assurance across all operations.
Essential Duties:
- Lead top-tier evaluations of system architecture from a cybersecurity perspective, ensuring seamless integration of security products and comprehensive threat analyses throughout design, development, testing, and deployment phases.
- Convert complex military operational needs into actionable systems designs and cybersecurity performance criteria.
- Develop, scrutinize, and endorse cybersecurity testing protocols, procedures, and reports, ensuring technical precision and compliance on all assigned projects, including analysis of failures in government and contractor-operated tests.
- Integrate and coordinate cybersecurity, Communications Security (COMSEC), and TEMPEST standards across the system’s entire lifecycle.
- Review system outputs against cybersecurity requirements, monitor field operations for security performance, and evaluate risks in fulfilling user needs.
- Support the product management office in crafting cybersecurity acquisition strategies and ensuring compliance with legal and policy frameworks.
- Implement the Department of Defense (DoD) Risk Management Framework (RMF), collaborate with the Information System Security Manager (ISSM) on security control implementations, and manage all RMF documentation and system operations requirements.
- Address and assist in policy, budgetary, and strategic issues related to cybersecurity within the organization.
- Handle network security architecture, system vulnerability issues, and the evaluation of threat impacts on Information Technology (IT) and National Security Systems (NSS).
- Conduct security assessments, risk evaluations, and vulnerability analyses daily, and oversee certification and accreditation activities for the project team.
- Manage incident response coordination, maintain communication with relevant Network Enterprise Centers (NEC), and support Computer Emergency Response Teams (CERT).
- Ensure adherence to the DoD Inspector General (IG) Cybersecurity Self-Assessment and the Federal Information Security Management Act (FISMA).
- Implement and monitor compliance audits, partake in system inspections, report findings, and evaluate corrective measures.
- Engage as the cybersecurity expert in program reviews, design meetings, and Integrated Product Teams (IPTs).
- Serve as a cybersecurity consultant and mentor within the team, pioneering strategic cybersecurity initiatives.
Required Qualifications:
- U.S. Citizenship is mandatory due to the sensitivity of the role.
- A Master’s degree in Cybersecurity coupled with at least 20 years of relevant experience.
- An active Secret security clearance.
- Certifications: Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) and Security (Sec ).
- Demonstrated capability to lead cybersecurity initiatives with minimal supervision, reflecting a deep understanding of systems engineering, cybersecurity policy, and operational security accreditation processes.
- Proficient with the DoD Risk Management Framework, with recent experience (within the last two years) in system accreditation using DoD RMF and eMASS software.
- In-depth knowledge of AR 25-2 and extensive experience in network security architecture and developing cybersecurity policy and integration standards.
