JOB TITLE: LICENSED PRACTICAL NURSE (LPN)
PRIMARY FUNCTION:
Reporting to the Director of Nursing (DON), the LPN is responsible for providing care and treatment to clients and their families in various nursing situations under the direction and supervision of the DON and/or the licensed Medical Director.
PRIMARY DUTIES:
- Provides nursing care to all clients through a variety of semi-skilled nursing responsibilities
- Provides data entry of nursing observations, treatments, and performed procedures into EMR software
- Maintains care plans including identification of problems and follow through
- Provides feedback on all changes in clients’ conditions to nurse and/or physician in charge
- Administers topical or sub-IM medications and completes proper documentation
- Provides completed nursing assessments as required
- Provides proper documentation for all obtained/administered labs, vital signs, and medication, charting appropriately
- Provides data entry of demographics and lab orders into computer. Label correctly and place in cooling unit
- Maintains knowledge and proficiency in assessments performed for Detox patients (CIWA, CIWA-B, and COWS)
- Maintains and perform temperature checks on cooling units
- Performs chart checks
- Assists in maintaining orderly unit appearance and inventory
- Performs other tasks and duties as assigned by Nurse Manager or Medical Director

- Required to stand and walk for long periods of time
- Required to occasionally reach with hands and arms
- Required to frequently lift and/or move up to 35 pounds, and rarely lift the max of up to 75 lbs.
- Required specific vision abilities: Close vision
EDUCATION, KNOWLEDGE, COMPETENCIES & SKILLS REQUIRED:
- Must be a graduate of an accredited vocational nursing program
- Must have a current license to practice nursing in the state of Louisiana
- Must have at least one (1) year of experience in a clinical setting
- Must have a current CPR certification
- Must be able to work independently and in a team environment
- Must be detail oriented and organized, with a natural passion to help people
- Must have two (2) years uninterrupted sobriety if in personal recovery
This position is listed as a full-time and the workday will consist of 12 hour shifts.
